September is Blood Cancer Awareness month and this year they are encouraging people to craft for a cure. I’ve got a pretty busy month with 2 yarn shows on the calendar so instead of arranging a craft event I’m going to donate 5% of all my yarn sales in September to Blood Cancer UK this means every customer that buys yarn from me in September online or at unravel… a festival of yarn and Yarndale will not only be supporting a small business but also a fantastic charity.

For those of you who are new here or may have missed my previous posts I have a chronic form of blood cancer called an MPN and I’ve spent the last 3 years on a clinical drugs trial which has helped stabilised blood counts and reduce some of the symptoms I was getting so this cause is really important to me and you can help by just shopping for yarn.

One of my favourite things about yarn shows this summer has been seeing so many pictures of people’s finished projects that they bought last year. Sally particularly stuck in my mind as she fell in love with the In Bloom parasol pattern but we didn’t have quite the right colours so I pointed her in the direction of my ‘design your own’ section on the website and she put together this lovely colourway to match her wedding dress which she span, wove and sewed herself. I was completely blown away but her passion when she told me about it in 2025 and was over the moon when she came back to show me these stunning photos in 2026. Thank you for sharing this with me Sally, i feel honoured to have played a tiny part in your incredible day.

There's a new CAL in town for my GSC+ folks, starting next week!

I designed this bag for the folks coming on my Tropical Crochet Retreat to Vanuatu next week for them to make before we leave. And lots have!

So while we are away, sunning it up, Lisa will be running a CAL in GSC+ where members can also make the Vanuatu Bag!

It'll be added to the Project Library Monday, ready for you to play.

What an amazing first day at Southern Wool Show🐑 we had the most lovely day meeting some lovely new customers and welcoming back some returning ones. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us today, it’s lucky this is my local show because I’ve had to spend my Saturday night knocking up a few colour ways we sold out of today so anyone visiting tomorrow still gets the full choice of colours.

I’m very busy this week trying to keep on top of my orders and finish off stocking up yarn cakes ready for summerwoolfestival this weekend then quickly followed by unravel… a festival of yarn in mid September and rounding off next month at Skipton for Yarndale

If I’m a bit slower than usual in my lead times and replying to messages I can only apologise the hot weather has dried my brain and withered my soul over the last couple of weeks so I’m glad to have a few days with clouds in the sky to help me get on a bit better.

Thank you for my beautiful flowers Sadlers Woodhouse they are definitely cheering my table up and for those of you with keen eyesight I’ve had a dog treat delivery as well but I’ve not packed it away yet.

My shed is like a sauna but I’m having to persevere to get my orders finished and to top up some stock ready for next weekend at Southern Wool Show🐑 we will have yarn, patterns and accessories for lots of different projects. Please stop by and say hi, we are in the Berkshire Stand B1 and this is my home show so it’s lovely to meet people who have travelled far and wide to be there.

Show prep is slow going this week but I’m working my way through my orders and I’m 90 cakes into Wizard of Loops Crochet Studio order for kits. Tomorrow my plan is to get my orders done and then have an afternoon on show stock and I’m hoping to finish up the last 30 cakes for the kits as we go into the cooler part of the week. I’m really looking forward to Southern Wool Show🐑 but with 200 plus cakes to get made before then I really need to pull my finger out. Wish me luck!

It’s been a wonderfully busy first day here at summerwoolfestival we met and chatted to so many people and it’s been lovely to see pictures and finished pieces from people we met here last year on our very first yarn show. Roll on tomorrow if you are visiting you will find us in the sports hall, bring a fan, it’s a bit on the warm side in there.

I will have 3 beautiful parasol patterns available this week at summerwoolfestival along with the frames and yarn so you can build a complete kit in whichever colour way you fancy.

The patterns, Starflower, In Bloom and Radiance are all designed by Jenny and you will see some stunning examples shared on Jenny’s page

In my normal haphazard manner I’ve not managed to get any nice photos of my samples that I’ve made and each time I pack them away I think ‘I must get some photos before the next show’ only to remember as I load the box into the van for the next show that I’ve still not managed to do it 🤦‍♀️
