I strongly feel supply chain transparency should be normalised — so let’s get into the weeds of mine! 🔍🪡

My products are made here in the UK, but the fabric itself is woven in Pakistan from organically grown cotton.

The UK used to lead the world in cotton weaving, but commercial-scale weaving is now almost impossible to find here unless you’re a huge, established company doing it in-house. And even then the cotton or flax is still most likely grown overseas.. so the idea of ‘fam to sofa’ is work in progress to say the least!

However, I’m actively looking for a way to change that. If you know a UK weaver working at commercial scale, please send them my way — I’d be so grateful. 🌿

In the meantime, I’m proud and grateful that my little business is part of the economy that supports British craft and I think the fact that that’s still possible should be celebrated and supported! ✂️🧵🪡

Rating my 2026 so far as a one-woman homeware business — the good, the bad, and the “why did I think that was a good idea.”

Running Ellerod solo means every decision is mine to get right (or spectacularly wrong). This year’s had some real wins and some very real facepalms! Hopefully at the end of the day some progress... certainly some lessons learned!

What’s been your best or worst business decision this year? 👇

Some time ago the inner woman gave me a mad idea to leave my steady career of 10+ years! She had a strong urge to pursue a dream with zero security or guarantees. Just a very stubborn belief that she wanted to make something of her own.

Ellerod didn’t happen overnight. It happened slowly, messily, and with a lot of trial and error. But by hook and by crook it became a real thing — with real products, made in England and designed by me.

And now people I’ve never met ACTUALLY buy those products. And I am forever grateful.

If any of that resonates, swipe to read the full story. And if you’re curious about what I make, I’d love for you to come and have a look. 🌿

P.S. I am also very grateful to those I have met who buy the products! 😄

97% of the UK’s wildflower meadows have been lost since 1930.

Protecting our natural diversity and the flora that makes Britain so beautiful feels more urgent than ever.

I’d love for Ellerod to play a small part in that — donating a share of profits to help protect these precious, disappearing species.

Can anyone recommend a charity close to their heart?

We talk a lot about fast fashion, but fast homeware.. that’s a conversation that’s long overdue.

Millions of cheaply made kitchen textiles end up in landfill every year.

Synthetic fibres that won’t breakdown for centuries, dyes that pollute waterways. Product built to be replaced rather than loved.

That’s why at Ellerod every product is made from natural fibres in small batches. Even the packaging is carefully considered to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible.

Behind every small business there’s a real person trying to make something worthwhile. For me that’s doing something a truly love and believe in.

And when you choose a small business, you’re not just buying a product. You’re choosing makers, sustainable materials and supporting the local economy.

In fact did you know that for every £ you spend with a small business - 63p stays in the economy vs just 40p when you buy from a larger chain.. food for thought!
