Ellie Dickins Shoes opened in 1999 after Ellie had stru

ggled for years to find shoes to fit her size 11 feet. Having size 9 feet at the age of eleven, Ellie was always disappointed by the lack of style, range and fittings that were available on the high street. If she was lucky enough to find her size, the style was usually something her grandmother would have found old fashioned. Having struggled through school mostly wearing boys’ shoes, the crux came when Ellie was getting married. In her typical no-nonsense can-do attitude, she decided she'd do something about it, and would establish a shop offering stylish, comfortable shoes to those with non-standard feet, with the kind of professionally trained fitting service many people think doesn't exist any more. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.
