I’m considering sharing some simple sewing skills, tips, and little tutorials—things that could help you mend, alter, or even create your own pieces at home. Nothing overwhelming, just practical, beginner-friendly bits that you can actually use ✂️🧵

Since so many of you trusted me with your bridal pieces, it feels right to keep supporting you in a different way.

After buying her dream dress and finding out it’s too small I replaced the zip with a lace-up back on this prom dress—so happy with how it turned out! Amazed at how perfectly the fabric matches; it looks like it was always meant to be this way.

After altering our bride Laura’s dress, there was a bit of leftover fabric from shortening her hem - just enough to do something special with. So, we turned those precious scraps into matching scrunchies! 🪡👱🏻‍♀️

Why We Dread High-Street Bridesmaid Bodices!!

Seamstresses love a challenge, but high-street bridesmaid bodices? A nightmare! Look at this fabric—no matter how sharp the needle, it pulls & puckers and won’t forgive alterations.

Many are made with delicate synthetics, stiff interfacing, and glued seams, making adjustments risky. Unpicking stitches? Almost impossible without leaving scars.

If your seamstress warns you, trust them! Some dresses simply aren’t designed to be altered. The best fix? Choose a dress that fits the bodice well. Length alterations are an easy fix once the top is sorted ✔️
