Emma’s dress was sitting slightly below her natural waist, which was creating sagging and folds through the upper skirt and waistline. Rather than simply taking the dress in, I lifted the waist by 3/4 of an inch repositioning the whole waist line so it sat exactly into Emma’s figure.
That small adjustment made a huge difference to the overall fit — removing the excess fabric and those unwanted folds, creating a much cleaner, sharper line through the waist and allowing the dress to follow Emma’s shape properly. 🤍
And of course, with bridal alterations, it’s never quite as simple as “just lift the waist”…
The alteration had to be worked around the lace placement, seams and proportions of the original design, while also adjusting the sleeves, shoulders, bodice and length so everything remained balanced.
