Every July there is one date that sits firmly in my diary. The Suzanne Neville collection launch.
This year, though, it almost started with disaster.
For weeks my mind has been completely consumed by building our new boutique. Every tiny detail has mattered. The paint, the lighting, the mirrors, the fittings. This new space has become my world because I know it will be the home for the dresses that will shape the future of our business.
So, naturally, I spent the morning making sure my phone was fully charged. I wanted to capture every moment.
We rushed for the train…
…and I realised I’d left my phone at the boutique.
When we arrived at The Dorchester and saw Suzanne, we laughed. She smiled and said, “You’re going to have to watch it with your own eyes.”
She couldn’t have been more right.
Suddenly I wasn’t thinking about taking photographs. I was simply present.
Watching.
Feeling.
Taking in every detail.
It made me realise that’s exactly how I hope every bride experiences finding her wedding dress. Not through a camera. Not worrying about remembering every detail. Just trusting what she feels.
If you forget something, perhaps it wasn’t meant to stay with you.
But this collection…
Every single gown stayed with me.
There are only two shows, bringing together buyers from all over the world. We were fortunate enough to be sitting opposite Suzanne herself. What made it even more special was sharing the room with her husband and members of the incredible workroom team who had spent countless hours bringing every gown to life.
Watching Suzanne’s face as each dress appeared from behind the screen was almost as magical as seeing the dresses themselves. You could see the pride, the excitement and the quiet anticipation as she watched our reactions.
