Rambling Clo

Rambling Clo Independent clothing & art brand
Built on slow fashion, storytelling & community
Printed to order. Reduced waste. Designed to last. Yorkshire, UK

Rambling Clo is an independent clothing brand driven by sustainability and mental health awareness. Inspired by the balance between urban life and nature, our designs carry stories of resilience and growth. Born from a deeply personal journey, Rambling Clo emerged as a creative outlet during a time of recovery. Overcoming the challenges of childhood trauma, addiction, and homelessness, I found sol

ace in art during the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as simple doodles in a notepad gifted by a peer supporter became "Sertraline Smile," my first character—a symbol of the emotional masks we wear to face the world.

Every summer seems to bring another heatwave. Every year, another housing estate, retail park or industrial unit appears where fields, hedgerows and trees once stood.

Trees won't stop a heatwave. But they do make a difference. They provide shade, cool the air through evapotranspiration, and help soften the heat trapped by concrete, brick and tarmac.

If we want places that are healthier to live in, we can't keep replacing green space with grey space and expect nothing to change.

Growth shouldn't just be measured by how much we build, but by what we choose to protect.

That's one of the reasons Rambling supports tree planting through Ecologi. We know it's not a complete solution, but restoring nature is one small, practical step towards a healthier future.

We have moved.
After three years, it was time for a new chapter.

Rambling has never been just about clothing. It's about creativity, community, getting outdoors and opening up conversations about the world we live in and the one we want to build.

Shipley feels like the right place for that journey to continue.

I've written a new Field Notes on why we moved, what the last three years have taught me, and where Rambling goes from here.

Every space leaves its mark.

This one certainly did.

It was never the biggest studio. It wasn't the smartest. But it became home to ideas, conversations, mistakes, experiments, artwork, clothing, community and the next chapter of Rambling.

I arrived believing creativity simply needed a room. I left understanding it also needs freedom.

So this was my final installation.
No war but class war.

Not a call to fight one another, but a reminder that too often the biggest barriers to ordinary people creating aren't imagination or talent. They're the systems that decide who belongs, what is valuable and which voices deserve space.

Rambling has always stood with the people who make, build, print, walk, question and create anyway.

The door closes here.

The path carries on elsewhere.
Still printing, still creating

For the last few months I've been reflecting on my experience of navigating creative spaces and asking myself a simple question.

When does creativity need permission?

That question became the latest Rambling Field Note.

It is a reflection on accessibility, institutions and what happens when making art begins to feel like navigating bureaucracy.

If you've ever felt that creativity has become more about policies than people, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

A reflection on class, accessibility and creativity. Rambling explores why working class artists face institutional barriers, what true accessibility means, and why the future belongs to grassroots workshops rather than gatekeepers.

One of the original Rambling canvases.
Created using spray paint, acrylic, stencils and layered textures, this piece reflects the influence of street art, outsider art and the visual language that has shaped Rambling from the beginning.

I'm currently moving Rambling into a new studio. Rather than asking for donations, I'm releasing a small selection of original artworks to help fund the move.
Every sale helps build the next chapter of the brand.

Since 1066, power has steadily concentrated land into fewer hands. Centuries of enclosure fenced off the commons, turning shared land into private property.

Communities that once lived from the land were pushed away from it and forced to sell their labour simply to survive.

Every footpath walked, every woodland explored and every right to roam reclaimed is a reminder that our relationship with the land did not begin with ownership. It began with belonging.

Solstice evening.
The sun sinking into the horizon.
Birds flying low through the long grass.
A reminder that the seasons keep turning, whether we're ready or not.

Internal Smile, Paris.
A photo sent over by one of our customers.

From sketches in a notebook to streets, hills, cities and rooftops across Europe.

Thank you for taking Rambling with you.

We are all Internal.

One of the suppliers behind Rambling.

We're always trying to make better decisions about where our garments come from.

No Sweat is one of the suppliers we've chosen to work with because of their commitment to worker ownership, fair pay and ethical production.

They're not our only supplier, but they represent the kind of values we want to support as Rambling continues to grow.

There is no perfect garment industry. No perfect supply chain.
What we can do is ask questions, be transparent about our choices, and keep moving in the right direction.

Every decision matters.
Every supplier matters.

And every purchase is a chance to support a different way of doing things.

A few years ago I was sketching characters in notebooks while trying to hold myself together.

Today I had the privilege of sitting with Jeremy Cunningham and looking through the original woodcuts and linocuts he created for The Levellers over the years.

Not every archive lives in a museum.

These were the blocks behind the prints. The marks behind the artwork. The stories behind the stories.

Carved by hand. Inked by hand. Printed by hand.

Real work made by real people.

Sometimes it's worth taking a moment to reflect on how far you've travelled.

From sketchbooks and ideas scribbled in the margins, to sitting in a studio with Jeremy Cunningham and looking through decades of printmaking history.

Still making. Still learning. Still rambling.
