After redecorating the craft room this week & going through our fabric. I am in the process of making bonded hearts for hospital charities for parents & neonatals .

First is the neonatal unit at Barnet Hospital.

For those unaware of what bonded hearts are…

When babies are born with health issues, they are often separated from their parents for long periods of time. Mother and Baby Bonding Hearts allow a bond to develop between babies and parents when they can't be physically near one another.

Each gift consists of two homemade fabric hearts. Mum wears one heart next to her skin and the other one is placed next to the baby so that their scent is transferred. The hearts are then swapped over regularly so that mother and baby are able to bond at a distance. Once used, the hearts go home with the baby as a keepsake.
