We just want to say a really big thank you for all those who braved the miserable weather and brought happiness to what could have been such a somber event. We had some giggles and shared some happy memories and still some bought some great outfits that complimented them so well. We thank you all.

Stay tuned for what happens next. I intend to move online starting with the remaining stock but you have also seen some of couture and corset work that I have been perfecting over the last few years and some other things I haven't told you about yet. Watch this space....

The day has finally come when we must close the doors of 17 High Street as In Stark Contrast and we would like to invite you to join us for a glass of bubbly to thank you for your support and to commemurate all the great times we have had in past.

Please come and say goodbye if possible, there are still some great items left, especially the Joseph Ribkoff bolero dress jackets that I am amazed are still around at this great price.

As I mentioned in the first email announcing the closure, I have been busy with both the shop and my son’s wedding where I made the couture wedding dress for my daughter in law to be. I thought you would like to see the results as it is an avenue I may pursue in the future if there is sufficient interest. As you can see from below, it is made of pure dupion silk with a separate corset using spiral steel boning and inlaid with black lace which I hand stitched over many hours. It was a rather non conventional wedding, hence the colour and the halloween themed wedding breakfast. The weather was kind and the new couple enjoyed their day.

Once again I must thank all my staff, especially Denise who has been with In Stark Contrast for so long with tomorrow being her last day also. I couldn’t have had the success and happy times without the support of my staff and I sincerely thank them all.

We are sorry to announce that after over fifteen years of trading, In Stark Contrast is in the process of closing down. Some of you may have noticed that we chose not to take delivery of the new seasons stock and are now in a continuous generous sale of 50% off the original marked prices for the remaining stock. We will likely trade any stock remaining on the internet so don’t expect the prices to fall further!

There are lovely pieces still available: mostly 14-18 in Joseph Ribkoff dresses but across the size ranges in jackets for the forthcoming party season. This includes the very popular little essential jacket in several colours and in most sizes that transform your existing wardrobe.

There are of course also still some lovely styles available from Out of Xile, Oska and Masai and a small selection of jewellery and scarfs, Van Daal and Emu shoes, hand and clutch bags and a number of hats and facinators to choose from.

We intend to close in early November and will now only open for normal trading on Friday and Saturday with Denise but I will open by appointment at other times. If this is of interest, please pm to make your appointment.

It is a sad time for all associated with In Stark Contrast but I would personally like to thank Sheila, Dorothy and Denise for all their hard work and loyalty during this difficult time. In all our time together I think we have made some happy and funny memories that we will all cherish. Of course, all the success we have enjoyed is due to yourselves who have supported us over the years and our thanks go out to you all.
