Please sign this petition set up by one of the lovely mums that attends our baby classes, sadly her partner and baby’s daddy passed away aged just 31 on 26th May due to a unexpected cardiac arrest during a football match 😢 Osahon, Charlotte and Tobias have attended all of our seasonal special classes from the day we started. The most lovely little family 💕 Such a sad loss, the petition needs 100,000 signatures to be considered.

Please sign and share 🙏🏻

The first three years of a child's life are more important than any other, with eighty five percent of the brain being formed by age three. Early brain development and how parents assist in their child's early years has a lasting impact on a child’s ability to learn and succeed in life and in school. The quality of a child’s experiences in the first few years of life – positive or negative – helps shape how their brain develops into adulthood.

Over the next few posts we are going to be exploring how you can support your baby’s development at each age and stage…

By 1-2 months your baby may:

👶Lifts head when on tummy

👂🏻Responds to sounds

👀Stares at faces

💡Turns head towards light

🔲Begins to see black and white patterns

➡️May follow objects

🗣Makes 'ooh' and 'ahh' sounds

😁May begin to smile

⤴️Holds head at 45-degree angle

Things you can do at home to support them:

👐🏻Skin to skin

🗣Talking to your baby as you do daily chores

🎶Singing lullabies or nursery rhymes

☑️Providing them with black and white high-contrast images to gaze at

🎈Give your baby some nice soft floor space under a play gym or play mat/ high-contrast cards

✨Baby massage

📚Reading books

💕Tummy time, this can be on the floor or on you

🪶Tickle them with a feather

🦥Place different textured objects in their hands

🌳Go for a walk in nature

🟪Use a coloured scarf to practice eye tracking

In our next post we will cover lots of ideas for 2-4 months old babies 🥰

This week was all about ‘CONTRASTS’ 🌈🤍🖤❤️

Our babies had lots of fun exploring our 3 multi sensory zones stimulating their curiosity and wonder…

Black and white 🤍🖤🤍
Rainbow 🌈🌈🌈
Shiny 🌟🌟🌟

We also had a lovely time singing and finished in our calm, sensory chill out glow area ☂️🌟☂️

Did you know…

In the first 3 months, babies can focus on objects that are 8-11 inches away. This is more or less the distance from your face while nursing or feeding 🧑🏻‍🍼🤱🏻

Bold black-and-white images stimulate the development of the optic nerves and encourage young babies cognitive development without over-stimulating them. 🤍🖤🤍🖤

Appropriate visual stimulation for babys is the best way to help extend tummy time. It also teaches the muscles of the eyes and the brain to coordinate and function properly.👁

Engagement with contrasting images, diverse textures and patterns boosts infants learning and focus.🌈🌈🌈

Babies begin to perceive colors more and more between 2 and 4 months old. 💚❤️To start, they’re able to tell the difference between shades of greens and reds. The exact timing for when your baby will see these colors is individual, so there’s no set week or month when it happens for all babies universally.

We do have a few spaces on next weeks classes -

Tuesday 17th May
10.00am
Or
11.30am
Syston Rugby Club

£11 per session
