This badge design is called "Disruption" and its designer, Graham Isted, explains;
"It symbolises the disruption the bonfire society (and the wider community) have faced in 2020. I have used the bold colour scheme of Cliffe’s distinctive black and white striped guernseys in my design. The word Cliffe and 2020 remains clear to read but there is an element of distortion and abstraction. I was inspired by the bold abstracted markings called ‘Dazzle Camoflage’ used extensively on World War 1 and to a lesser extent World War 2 Navy ships. They used geometric shapes in contrasting colours, with shapes that interrupt and intersecting each other. I felt it was a fitting nod to commemorate the ingenuity of people facing adversity and the sacrifice of our war dead".
