Attention owners of Veteran Horses! After the huge success of our veteran classes & championship at last year’s pre-Dublin show they are back on the agenda for 2026.
Once again we are delighted to have Ireland’s only qualified Veteran Horse judge AND we are welcoming back our very generous sponsors
Rowan Equestrian and equinutritive.
The classes on offer are:
- The Rowan Equestrian ridden Veteran Horse class ages 15-19yo
- The Equinutritive Ridden Veteran Horse Class ages 20+
- The Dark Horse Veteran Horse Championship. Open to those placed first & second in the above classes plus the highest place veteran horse (15yo+) across the rest of the day’s ridden classes.
🏆Sashes for champion & reserve & the Champion will receive the ‘Locomotion Lady Memorial Shield’
There will be no ride judge in these classes, there will be a normal group ride round (no gallop) then competitors will be invited to give a short individal show.
Horses are judged on:
- suitability, performance and manners
- condition for age, suppleness & turnout
Spurs must not be worn in either the warmup or competition rings and riders must not gallop their horses. This class is open to amateurs only. Failure to comply with these rules will regretfully result in disqualification.
