As the new school year begins, please remember that not every child is walking through those school gates feeling excited. ❤️
Some are nervous.
Some are anxious.
Some are struggling with the change in routine.
Some are shy, lacking confidence, finding friendships difficult or already worrying about where they will sit and who they will play with.
Some children will walk into school surrounded by friends. Others will walk in quietly hoping that just one person notices them.
Please teach your children that inclusion matters.
Teach them not to leave someone out because they are different, quieter, awkward, new, struggling socially or simply not part of their usual friendship group.
Teach them to move over and make space.
To invite the child standing alone.
To include someone even when nobody else does.
Because being left out hurts.
And sometimes one tiny act of kindness can be the difference between a child going home feeling unwanted… and a child going home feeling like they finally belong. ❤️
Our children will learn maths, English, science and so much more this year…
But one of the most important lessons we can teach them costs absolutely nothing:
Be kind.
Notice the child standing alone.
Make room.
Include them.
Nobody should have to earn the right to belong 💖
