On This Day in Beatles History – 3rd August 1963, The Beatles played their final performance at Liverpool's legendary Cavern Club, bringing to a close an incredible chapter that saw them perform there nearly 300 times.

By then, Beatlemania had exploded, and they had outgrown the intimate basement venue that helped launch them to worldwide fame. Yet, as those who were there remember, inside the Cavern they were still the same Beatles—full of wit, energy and unforgettable music 🎶

🎵 Phil Collins and Paul McCartney End 10-Year Feud in Heartwarming Reunion

After nearly a decade of tension, Phil Collins has revealed that he and Paul McCartney have finally reconciled. The former Genesis drummer says the pair "made up" after McCartney agreed to donate memorabilia to a King's Trust charity auction in Los Angeles.

The feud began after Collins recalled feeling insulted during a 2002 encounter with the former Beatle, comments he later shared publicly in 2016. Now, Collins says they're both happy to have moved on, calling the reconciliation "full circle."

The music legend also opened up about his ongoing health battles, his near-death experience, and repairing his relationship with daughter Lily Collins—proving that, in his words, "everything has a happy ending, most of the time."

🍏 On This Day in Beatles History: The Apple Boutique Closes – 31st July 1968

On this day in 1968, The Beatles closed their iconic Apple Boutique at 94 Baker Street, London — and rather than hold a final sale, they decided to give away the remaining stock to the public.

The psychedelic shop had opened on 7th December 1967, becoming a symbol of the Flower Power era, with its famous painted exterior attracting crowds and controversy. But after council objections and the feeling that the boutique had lost its original purpose, The Beatles decided it was time to move on.

The result? Thousands of fans queued overnight, and by the end of the day the shop had been completely stripped bare — clothes, displays, fittings and even parts of the interior disappeared into Beatles history!

As George Harrison later recalled, the idea was always about giving rather than selling:

“We wanted to give rather than sell.”

The Beatles chose to focus Apple’s future on music, films and new creative ventures — leaving the boutique behind as a memorable moment of Beatlemania.

🏆 Sir Paul McCartney Earns His FIRST-EVER Mercury Prize Nomination!

In a remarkable career spanning more than six decades, Sir Paul McCartney has achieved almost everything in music—but incredibly, he's only just received his first Mercury Prize nomination.

His critically acclaimed album The Boys of Dungeon Lane, inspired by his childhood in Liverpool and the memories that shaped his journey before The Beatles, has been shortlisted for the 2026 Mercury Prize.

The deeply personal record reflects on McCartney's early years, his family, and his friendships with John Lennon and George Harrison, while celebrating the Liverpool streets where one of music's greatest stories began.

Already a UK No. 1 album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane is now in the running alongside artists including RAYE, Florence + the Machine, Olivia Dean, Dave, Suede and more, with the winner announced on 22nd October.

For Beatles fans and music lovers alike, this nomination is another historic milestone in the extraordinary career of one of the world's most influential songwriters.

📸 Never-Before-Seen John Lennon Photos to Go on Display This August

Rare, intimate photographs of John Lennon taken by his former partner May Pang during his legendary 'Lost Weekend' will be exhibited for just three days in Oregon.

The collection features candid moments from Lennon's creative 18-month separation from Yoko Ono between 1973 and 1975, including several photographs that have never been publicly displayed before. Among the highlights are the only known photo of Lennon signing the paperwork that dissolved The Beatles and one of the last known images of Lennon with Paul McCartney.

🥁 RINGO STARR & THE BUTLIN’S YEARS

Long before Ringo Starr became a Beatle, Butlin’s played a surprisingly important part in his story.

In 1960, Rory Storm & the Hurricanes secured a summer season at Butlin’s Pwllheli. Ringo was initially reluctant to give up his apprenticeship, but the opportunity was too good to refuse. It was during this period that he developed his “Starr Time” feature — and the name Ringo Starr emerged.

The Hurricanes returned to Butlin’s for a second summer season in 1961, before their third summer season in 1962, this time at Skegness.

And that final Butlin’s season would change music history.

In August 1962, the Beatles were looking for a new drummer. Ringo was already known to John, Paul and George from the Liverpool and Hamburg scenes, and had occasionally stood in for Pete Best.

Ringo had been considering an offer from Kingsize Taylor to go to Hamburg for £20 a week.

Then came the Beatles' offer: £25 a week.

On 14 August 1962, John Lennon telephoned the Butlin’s camp with the invitation.

Ringo accepted.

He had two weeks remaining on his Butlin’s contract, but gave Rory Storm just three days' notice and left the Hurricanes.

Four days later, on 18th August 1962, Ringo Starr sat behind the drum kit with The Beatles for the first time as their official drummer at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight.

🥁Three Butlin’s summer seasons had taken him from Liverpool drummer to professional musician.

And the third ended with a telephone call that changed the world.
