Child Employment Permits - Information for Businesses

If you are employing a school aged child, you must have a permit in place before they start work. This applies to any business or individual employing a child who is of compulsory school age and works part time including:

 After school
 Weekends
 School holidays
This includes paid and unpaid work.

What you need to do:

 Apply for a permit before employment begins
 Wait for approval before the child starts work
 Make sure working hours and duties are within legal limits
 Complete a risk assessment

Why it matters - these rules are in place to make sure young people are:

 Safe
 Supported
 Able to continue their education

Failure to obtain a valid permit or comply with legal requirements may lead to a fine of up to £1000.

STEAM Data Survey for Tourism – 2025 Figures

Calling the following businesses in Conwy County - attractions, self catering businesses, hotels and guest houses, camping and caravan sites

We are currently collecting tourism data from 2025.

Please help us by completing the STEAM survey - more details below

Tourism data across the UK is collated using a standard method (STEAM) so that we can compare and contrast destinations.

Collecting up to date tourism data is so important for Conwy. Tourism is a priority sector for the County, supporting over 12,000 jobs and contributing £1.3bn to the local economy. These statistics are collected via STEAM and used to attract and inform investors to the county, as well as supporting funding bids to external funding organisations. This data is therefore vital to securing investment and futureproofing the tourism industry in Conwy County.

The data we ask for is only based around visitor numbers, and we do not ask or look for any commercially sensitive information from you.

The data you supply will be compiled into a county return. Your individual data will not be shared with any other organisation.

You can read more about the STEAM model here:
