The C word is fast approaching and I do like dressing up in shiny clothing don’t you? This is a sample made for my night and morning classes (4 consecutive weeks) using fabric from the shop downstairs from the studio.

I wore both together for class today, but in all honesty, I’m more likely to wear them as separates. The copper is a gorgeous metal but this fabric was CHALLENGING to sew and iron…but I think the results are worth it. Bonus: see last page for silver Paulette blouse.

Four week classes starting Wednesday night 11 November and Thursday morning 12 November for 4 weeks.

French Couture Jacket Course October 2027

Oh what a fabulous time we had. People travelled far and wide for this course: Pennsylvania USA (and she’s coming back in February), New York, France, Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool, Whitby, Merthyr Tydfil and St Asaph! I feel so very honoured when people put their trust in me.

To finish off, here’s an excerpt from one of the ladies this morning “I’ve had an amazing experience, I feel like I'm going home a new woman.
Take pride in what you do and included in that is connecting, encouraging and supporting women. I can't thank you enough.”

Day one of our French Couture Jacket complete!

I’m thrilled to have Mercedes and Suzy (fellow sewing bees!) on this course. Mercedes fitting skills and Suzy’s creativity are incredible to see.

Also see the studio upgrade. Julie from the Quilting Bee worked so hard to make our cutting area even bigger! We also have 10 fancy Berninas for customer use.

Some hood and pocket progress on our Raincoat Series. The double pocket (hand warmer and regular pocket) have been a big it! The evening and day courses are smashing through these technical details.

We have decided to allow anyone wishing to make this coat the chance to do so on the Christmas Dressing Gown/Blouse series, so do book on if you missed out!

For now, feast your eyes on the fantastic fabrics used by the groups.

Sewing with Style On Tour!

What a lovely couple of days with Dawn and her group at Create and Sew Studio in Chorley.

Sewing certainly attracts the best people! Dawn has created a warm and lovely space for her customers. So if you are in the area, I highly recommend nipping in and taking one of her classes. I took my popular trousers course up there. Most participants did the tailored trousers. Only my fellow sewing bee Ange made the barrel leg (with no help from me - she is utterly brilliant and I love watching her exacting sewing).

Sewing with Style is on tour! I’m halfway through the two day trouser course at Create and Sew in Chorley.

What a lovely welcome I’ve had from owner Dawn Elliot and her lovely customers! Ange from the Sewing Bee is with us too. You may remember that Ange and I spent many weeks together back in 2022 when we were on the Bee together. Ange is an exceptional sewist, so only needs help with fitting.

We’ve had a couple of trousers courses these past few weeks- regular jeans with a twist, tailored trousers and barrel leg. I’ve loved helping the groups make them.

We have one more trousers course in 2026, Saturday and Sunday, 21 & 22 November. All our courses are set for 2027 with trouser courses in Feb, May, July and October.

Saturday Sewing - last session for 2026 - will be held on 14 November

Options for Saturday Sewing are:
✂️ Sewing at your own pace, having a laugh and a chat with others
✂️ Duplicating something you already own in your wardrobe - elementary pattern cutting plus assistance with writing out an order of construction
✂️ Having assistance with a tricky element of your make, so make some of it before you arrive then come along for some help with the instructions and/or have help with fitting
