WHERE TO FIND THE 📍Happening NEXT SATURDAY in Saltburn 🌞

🔸Saltburn Arts is located on Albion Terrace / Windsor Road in Saltburn 🌞
🔸It’s a 3 min (0.1mile) walk from the train station 🚃
🔸 There is free parking on Albion Terrace + along the cliff top 🚙
🔸 We have a cosy corner + will be serving £2 hot drinks ☕️
🔸 Doors open 10:30 and close 4pm 🛍️
🔸 Clothes repair station 🪡 (more info being shared this week)
🔸DJ Mega T will be bringing the good tunes 🪩
🔸 There are so many cool independent shops, coffee shops, lunch spots nearby not to mention the beautiful beach to visit alongside your trip to the Pop Up 🐚 (for anyone coming from further away don’t hesitate to ask for reccs)

hey insta (sorry for the summer radio silence) I have so much to share with you all starting with…

I MADE ._ HER WEDDING DRESSES FOR HER BEAUTIFULLY COLOURFUL, FUN, STUNNING WEDDING DAY ✨✨

these photo’s are so beautiful 🧡💐✨💖 it was sooo special to work with Chloe on bringing her vision to life for her dresses!

Dress 1 💖 was a dress that she had ordered but wanted remaking to fit her vibe, so we changed up the sleeves, added the tulle fabric and gave it all the personality to suit Chloe’s vibrant style ✨

Dress 2 🤍 was made from her mums wedding dress! so we completely reworked this from its original style to make it the perfect 2nd outfit to dance the night away in (see video for ref!!) it was so special to rework this with so much sentiment, keeping the original lace trim detail too 💫

it was an absolute dream working with chloe on this 🤍 all the love to her and her new husband Danny, they threw one hell of a wedding day and it was very special to be part of it 🪡✨

♻️⛺️ TOM-O X Leeds Fest X Leeds City College ⛺️♻️

In August 2023 I was invited to the Leeds Fest ‘Salvage’ along with a great bunch of people, organisations & charity’s to help clean up & salvage what’s sadly left behind 🚮

I was super excited to be involved & knew I wanted to do something fun with the textiles/tents I collected ♻️

It was important to me this project would be positive!! Involving people, the community & hopefully a project that would have positive impact on festival waste! I reached out to Leeds fest who directed me straight to their incredible sustainability team ✨

I pitched my idea to them:

I wanted to use the left behind tents & work with a local school on a project where together we recycle them into banners which promote positive message & a reminder to take your tent home - and for these to be showcased at Leeds Fest 2024 💥

They were onboard ✅ This is the first time I’ve pitched a project I’ve developed myself. Im so grateful to the sustainability team for trusting me with this, providing the support to run this project & getting involved themselves!!

With a lot of planning, meetings & discussion - we began a 6 week project working with 🗓️

Along with Kate, from Leeds Fest we delivered initial sessions to intro the project to the students. It was super important to us to hear the students opinions, their ideas, what messaging would resonate with them & help make a change to the current throw away culture - the students were fab with SO many amazing ideas 💡

We had design session, making sessions & at the end of the 6 weeks we had 6 banners finished which promoted a range of messages to encourage people to support each other, clean up waste & protect our planet 🌏💚

We had a fantastic showcase evening at the College for people to come see the work of the students ✨

Then this year, August 2024, the banners we created were showcased at Leeds Fest ⭐️⛺️♻️✂️🌞

It was a fab project to run & work on! I’m super grateful to the Leeds Fest sustainability team for their support throughout & to the students & teachers at Leeds City College for all their hard work on this project ✨

3. Find TOM-O in Portrait of Britain 🧡

Earlier this year I was contacted by to have my TOM-O pieces included in his project ‘Tapestry’ a docufashion project about the parallels between sustainability and disability. Of course I said YES straight away 🪡

“Part of a larger series titled ‘Tapestry’, it explores the story of the disabled community and sustainable patchwork garment designers, highlighting the parallels between the two and challenges faced by both. Beginning with the intimate documentary photography and culminating in a fashion editorial where both narratives meet, ‘Tapestry’ is a human insight into the realities of living with disability, fighting climate change & the triumph of the human spirit’

A huge well done to Nick!! Amazing to see you have two submissions chosen for this years edition for Portrait of Britain! Check their work out ⭐️

Always grateful to photographers who choose my work for such incredible projects like these!!! So great to see it in print 📸

Congrats Nick for such an amazing project & photography! Not to mention the amazing team that also worked on this project to bring this to life 🫶

It’s Decemberrrr ✨🕺

this year has been such a crazy one for TOM-O… in Jan this year we were still in the Corn Ex!! we’ve moved, work on a variety of projects, travelled about the UK & further and honestly completed neglected my social media whilst enjoying & working on all the above 🧡

SO, in the run up to Christmas Day I’m going to be sharing everything I’ve been working on & recapping 2024, before we enter 2025 🪩

AS ALWAYS - we have an incredible line up of local makers & creatives!! it’ll be festive vibes from 10:30-4:30 ⭐️ they’ll be £2 hot drinks, festive treats & a seating area too 🥧

I know christmas can be a busy & expensive time for everyone, but supporting small really DOES make a HUGEEE difference & I’m going to tell you why…

❄️ by shopping locally you are pumping money back into your community - a recent government study shows that for every £10 spent locally £3.85 is recirculated within the local community

❄️ supporting local businesses means you are contributing to a smaller carbon footprint - local products often require less transportation reducing the environmental impact compared to goods that a shipped over long distances

❄️ you will be taking home good QUALITY handmade products & enjoying buying them getting to know the maker / their story

❄️ you will feel good about supporting small! knowing your money is going back into economy positively & supporting someone’s small biz dream
