Looking forward to So Last Century at Beckenham Place Mansion (BR3 1SY). I’ll be there on Saturday, with trading from 10am – 4pm. New stock includes Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, alongside the usual selection of LPs and singles from the Beatles, ABBA, Kate Bush and host of others, with most records under £10. It’s always a great day at the Mansion, with a range of traders, street food vans, mulled wine and brownies. (The fair is also there on Sunday, but I won’t be).

Great to see Wham getting plenty of recognition thanks to the new Netflix documentary. I’ll have both their proper albums for sale at the So Last Century vintage fair on Sunday 16 July, 10am – 5pm, at Beckenham Place Mansion (BR3 1SY). It’ll be a great event with Sunday Food and Farmers' Market alongside a multitude of great vintage sellers (clothes, furniture, homeware, books etc).

I get asked at every vinyl sale if I have any Dolly Parton, and I normally give a disappointing answer. This Sunday at Goldsmiths college, New Cross (8 Lewisham Way), with So Last Century, I’ll be able to say, “well yes, I have a selection.” All of them play tested and absolutely fantastic. Trading is 11am - 4pm, and there’s always a great mix of vintage and retro stalls.

I’ll be at So Last Century vintage market on 15-16 October (11am – 4pm both days). As well as around 500 LPs, I’ll be bringing a selection of 45s, including a load of Jam classics that I’ve enjoyed play-testing this week. There’ll be a few other vinyl sellers and a host of stalls selling items I can’t even begin to describe. The event is at St Dunstan’s College in Catford SE6 4TY, and there will be plenty of refreshments on offer to make it a fine day out. Entry is £3 on the door, or £2 if you follow So Last Century on Facebook.

With ABBA virtually reuniting and performing to packed houses, Mamma Mia the musical gracing plenty of outdoor cinemas, and the Mamma Mia party experience at the O2, I’m anticipating interest in their back catalogue when I have my vinyl stall at So Last Century (Beckenham Place Mansion on 24 July). A few greatest hits albums of course, studio albums with some cracking lesser-heard tracks, and Gracias por la musica, in which they perform their hits in Spanish.

Popping up at the So Last Century vintage fare on 24 July at Beckenham Place Mansion, so I’ll have plenty of vinyl by artists from Lewisham and surroundings: Squeeze, Bowie, Idol, Boy George, Sandie Shaw, Quo, Dire Straits, David Sylvian, Kate Bush, and the Flying Pickets. And of course Jimi Hendrix, rumoured to be the source of the parakeets seen across South London, from his time living in Hither Green.

I’ve been play-testing almost all the Beatles studio albums, several Beatle solo albums and a fair few ropey compilations in preparation for my first post-pandemic pop-up. What a pleasure! I’ll be at So Last Century, along with many other vinyl and vintage sellers, at Beckenham Place Mansion on 24 July.

I’ve now had two doses of the vaccine and feeling good. Massively grateful to the NHS and Astra Zeneca. Very pleased also to have been vaccinated at Lewisham Hospital, which in 2015 became one of the few healthcare providers to have scored a Christmas number one. Sid Vicious, Matt and Luke from Bros, Bill Wyman and Louise from Eternal were all born there too, so quite an important place in music history.

At AFC Wimbledon’s new Plough Lane stadium for the first time to see Wimbledon v Liverpool U23, and I’m reminded of the 1988 FA Cup Final between the two clubs. Liverpool’s cup song was the memorable ‘Anfield Rap’, which reached the top 10. For some reason, Wimbledon released two singles - Discogs refers to the ‘Dons Song’ as a novelty record, whereas ‘We are Wimbledon’ gets the lofty classification of Folk music. Neither troubled the charts.
