The hardest side of the creative industry to talk about? Canceled projects. ❌

A while back, a massive luxury lifestyle shoot I had lined up featuring the Spencer Sisters and Chopard jewelry was completely pulled due to contract disputes and poor business practices from other party involved.

When you’re banking on that specific revenue or the exposure, a sudden cancellation leaves you in an incredibly difficult spot.

But if you’re a creator, stylist, or entrepreneur, you have to realise: this is simply the tax of doing business.

A large project has a million moving parts, and things will not go right 100% of the time.

A cancelled project isn’t the be-all and end-all. Your only job is to understand that it happens, shake it off, and keep sharpening your craft.

Better projects are on the other side.

Stop pairing formal with formal (unless absolutely necessary) and casual with casual. Start mixing your sharpest, structured investment pieces with your simplest everyday basics.

Ever feel like your outfit is “fine” but it’s just missing that extra edge? You probably have a depth problem.

Colours can be a distraction. To see if an outfit actually works, you have to strip the shades away and look at the foundation.

The B&W Test:
1. Take a mirror selfie.
2. Apply a Black & White filter.
3. If the whole look is just one solid shade of grey… it’s flat.

The Fix: Add high contrast: Lighter pieces or darker pieces to the outfit or “High Texture” (think wool,knit etc). If the pieces stand out from each other in B&W, they’ll turn heads in colour.
