At the beginning of the 17th century, the Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) had already achieved its final shape. The enormous extent of the Ottoman Empire in three continents, and the total control of road communications between Asia and Europe, rendered the Bazaar and the surrounding hans or caravanserais the hub of the Mediterranean trade.

The Grand Bazaar is one of the worlds largest and oldest covered markets in Istanbul, Turkey. Since 1455, the market has come a long way in it being recognised for its famous shopping destinations. At 30,700 square meters, Kapalıçarşı attracts tourists from all over the world to learn about its glorious history, whilst also admiring the craftmanship from its antique dealers, jewelers, bag makers, leather shops, and carpet sellers to name a few.
