The trope that “most people are good” is only made made true because of perseverance. Good people persevere over bad through hard times and struggle.
My great uncle Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr. was not spoken to by his fellow West Point soldiers/students on order from the schools commanding officers. Today the newest and largest barracks on the campus is named for him.
