Another moment for the boots, if you please! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
So, I sent these iconic Terry de Havilland babies on their way earlier this year and while I briefly mentioned it over on stories, I didn’t actually divulge the exciting information!
I know a lot of you lusted over them and may be curious to know where they went off to.
So settle down for a read if you wish..
First of all, big thanks to Viv Albertine for also owing a pair of these back in the day! Viv’s image on her book cover and the photograph inside stating the boots of her 1973 outfit being Terry de Havilland, gave me my only hopes of identifying them! There was zero evidence of these beauts anywhere else online.
I had always loved that image and I was buzzing to see they were identical! This was the only confirmation I needed to know that they were special.
(The insoles were missing, hence having very little other information to go by)
I kind of didn’t really want to part with them.. they weren’t my size so what would I have done with them?! Keeping hold of them would have been a total waste. I knew that someone out there was meant to have them..
Imagine my joy when the order came through to see they were purchased by the one and only Liz de Havilland, for her personal archive!
Liz and I exchanged several messages, in which she so fondly shared memories and spoke of Terry- his character and creativity, and sadly, his passing. It was amazing to get an insight into the skill and workings of a true British design icon.
She said how he would often talk about his ‘Witchycoo’ range- a range that there is such little evidence of! To be able to pass them back to the beloved household is such a pleasure… a vintage sellers dream to be honest.
What’s more, I had a message from Liz earlier this week to let me know that the boots are going to be exhibited!

They will be on display at the Icons of British Fashion exhibition , running from 23rd March- 30th June.
We cannot wait to visit! 💘
