For those that cannot see the Google sheet. The price is Martine’s purchased price. She wanted to receive a fair price for things and for her legacy to not be devalued. Please send me your OFFER price following procedure below so responses can be kept in one place. If you’ve spoken to / arranged sale with other people or sent me an Instagram message this does not count towards anything unless you confirm by email with your OFFER. It’s quite simple. Please do not ask me any questions because what I know is what is there and on the other two posts

Please email SUBJECT ‘Martine’ TO ‘[email protected]’ with your OFFER PRICE to reserve machines on a first come first serve basis on offer price. All machines are 220V except splitter that has a converter from 380V to 220V

If you’ve already sent me an email that’s fine.

All other small items and Martine’s handbags will be itemised and available to purchase this weekend from her atelier. If anything is leftover we may consider shipping will notify here

Thanks for understanding 🙏

New Beginnings : Day 2

You picked the wrong person to say that to but thank you because I’m now free from your judgement

I’ll post my list tomorrow. Does this resonate with anyone else?

You’re probably fine chicken! Kindness and Compassion called and said you don’t invite them around for dinner 😘

Leather Education Roundtable followed by Leather Industry Dinner yesterday.

This is a tough time for the leather industry globally but particularly in the UK after the loss of Pittards and upcoming ICLT closure alongside the pressures within the education sector as a whole. Conversations have been happening informally but it was really useful for The Leathersellers to convene this roundtable to truly understand what’s going on, what’s already being done and what’s needed. The need and scope is vast but I’m sure with strategic focus we can make a valuable contribution - one that addresses more immediate concerns but also lays the way for a legacy to ensure leathers’ survival as a material for the future.

As always, I raise the point about the need for effective communication - I’ve always thought that the leather industry is full of passionate people doing brilliant things and then keeping all that within the industry. I noted at the meeting that leather education is no different and, that much good work is already being done. However as we move forward if the plan doesn’t involve a holistic communication strategy with financial commitment, then some efforts may fall flat.

Making an impact in communication is challenging and, the results are not obvious or immediate. The landscape has changed and the way all of us consume information is vastly different. Those of us in the industry do not read much of the material produced let alone anyone else down the chain and corporate infographics are not engaging anyone in 2025. We need to get more people talking about and understanding leather, taking it up as a craft, starting apprenticeships and businesses, or getting an education and working within the industry. All of that can only happen if get out there with the message about leather, craftsmanship and sustainability. People don’t value what they don’t know and, if one thing was clear yesterday, people still don’t know a whole lot about leather.

Delighted to be featured in speaking about my views on leather and craftsmanship. Hopefully I can access the full version / in English tomorrow but I think it just says I’m amazing 😻 “Choice of materials is not a matter of business, market share or a passing fad. For me it’s about reconnecting with what’s true. A way of life defined by choosing good materials and good craftsmanship. That’s it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk actually that’s coming next 🤩

Nothing exists in a vacuum. Just we are now all connected globally. So now is everything else. Join the dots people. It’s really not that hard 🤲

If you scroll down far enough you’ll see a highly curated static feed that I was struggling to maintain. Two years ago, I took a leap and started making video content and let go of my perfectionism because I couldn’t do both - be a leather craftsman and be a content creator/social media manager. I recorded however I could and posted it without worrying how it looked and I stopped managing the aesthetics of my feed.

I launched my handbag collection through making Reels of the process. Never did I imagine it would reach people across the globe and that it would actually reach my perfect first clients. I make my handbags as twins and and are twins who were both having their respective weddings in 2022 (after a covid day) and purchased bags from my first collection for their weddings.

We’ve kept in touch and they share their adventures from their wedding to now - always accompanied by their bags from my first collection. Seeing my lovely client from the US rocking her bag on her very delayed honeymoon in stunning New Zealand is beyond rewarding.

Do I now have a feed I’m proud of? Not really. But I am proud of all how much I’ve grown as a result of social media and going for it. Of all the work I’ve got as a result and all the people I’ve connected with, met and worked with.

Happy Monday and stop worrying about what Instagram is doing. Stop moaning about the algorithm. Think differently and remember to go do that thing you don’t really know how to do / well. You never know where it’ll take you! 🌏👜❤️

Thanks to everyone that attended the unveiling of mural, opening of our fabulous Craft Garden and Open Studios last weekend

I had a fantastic weekend sharing my work with people old and new and having it all put on the table made me realise despite last year being difficult I actually carried on working and achieved a lot

Weaving a narrative through different strands of my work, I realised that finding your voice takes time. Like everything in life as craft, these things cannot be rushed. They come with living, experiences, making and reflecting. A constant process that is a conversation that the maker has with himself, the materials, community and so on back and forth. Craft was never and cannot be done in isolation without cost
