Nina Ricci aw07 silk-mix pillow jacket
Season: aw07

Condition: 8/10 - near perfect
One of the key items from Oliver Theysken’s debut for Nina Ricci in 2007: a utility jacket crafted in the softest fabrics imaginable. Rugged details have been taken from military designs and placed in a garment that feels more like a pillow.
Your first thought of a puffer jacket might be a highly structured piece of clothing. But on show here, as with much of Theyskens’s work, is a great deal of attention to drapery. Cargo pockets slump, gathered cuffs crease and twist.
As ethereal as it is, Theysken’s aw07 collection for Ricci was also the most technical-leaning season of his career. This item features a packable hood, seven pockets (three types), a military strap on the placket and sleeve construction that hints that the jacket could be converted to shortsleeve. The cuffs are even expandable.
The lining and outer are a silk-viscose mix, with tiny nylon trims at the collar and bottom of pockets. There is padding but it’s hard to discern if it is down feather as with other Theyskens for Ricci. There are more luxurious details like hand-sewn snap buttons and custom hardware (emulating the twisted faux bias techniques present in the collection).
