You know the phrase ‘fake it 'till you make it’ right?
Well, in some ways, I’ve fashion has been this armour and sometimes facade to help me get through times when I wasn’t feeling my best.
That is to say, when I felt like an imposter.
I’ve had these moments quite often, I guess we all do. And they really get to me.
And usually, they come when you’ve made a jump in life - you’ve changed jobs, been promoted, or are starting your first job.
In all of these moments, I found that I needed SOMETHING to hold on to.
Anything to remind me that I’m good at SOMETHING.
Because when you feel like an imposter, you start to feel like you’re not capable of anything worthwhile. And this is absolutely NOT true.
But you just need that reminder and that bit of a confidence boost to help you work through it.
So even in those tough moments where I felt like I knew nothing and wasn’t good enough, I wore clothes that made me feel confident.
That on its own had a really positive effect and reminded me that I can *figure it out*. I’m not helpless. I’m a capable woman and I need to remember that.
When you dress like it, you *feel* it and you eventually *become* it. 👌🏽
