Today is the final day of our beloved Meadows! It has been a wild ride over the last five years and we are very sad to see this label close. Who knows- perhaps we will bring it back one day?

But for now, the theme of the day is simplification and finding some balance. The hustle and bustle will continue behind the scenes with our other label

The biggest thank you goes out to all our customers- I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all your orders and kind words over the years. The website will stay active for the rest of the day and there are some big discounts available this cyber Monday.

Happy Samhain 🎃

“Samhain welcomed the coming of the ‘dark part of the year’ with celebrants believing that the barriers between the physical world and the spirit world broke down during the night of October 31, allowing a connection between humans and denizens of the Otherworld.

James George Frazer, in his seminal work The Golden Bough, wrote: “But it is not only the souls of the departed who are supposed to be hovering unseen on the day ‘when autumn to winter resigns the pale year’. Witches then speed on their errands of galloping along the roads to tabby cats, which for that evening are turned into coal-black steeds. The fairies, too are all let loose, and hobgoblins of every sort roam freely about.”

It is almost Samhain that will be the 31st of October and the 1st of November.
« During Samhain […] the veil between the world of mortals and that of the spirits, or aos si, became thin. This allowed the living to communicate with their dearly departed, and people held feasts in their honor, sometimes setting a place for them at the family dinner table. According to historian Ronald Hutton, author of Stations of the Sun, groups of revelers donned costumes (meant to either imitate the aos si, or provide protection from them), reciting songs and acting out plays in exchange for food from their neighbors — one possible origin of modern trick-or-treating »

Hello again. You have certainly been keeping us very busy with all your orders in our farewell sale, and we are very grateful for that!

This is me with my family in our home out near Stroud in Gloucestershire.

There are many reasons to be closing Meadows, but a big part of it is to rebalance my work and home life. I’m sure many small business owners following this page will be able to relate to that. It has become particularly difficult over the last two years to get this balance right, it seems like you need to put in double the work for the same result at the moment.

But I feel it is all easing now as the economy eases. I hope you are all finding the same, and we can get back to spending more quality time with our friends and loved ones alongside our careers.

We have finally broken the back of the bulk of the weekends orders so hopefully you will all have your pieces soon. Our UPS driver does not know what has hit him!

So moved and overwhelmed by the beautiful response to our sad news yesterday 😭😭😭.

I’d like to give a big shout out to our wonderful team- an amazingly talented and hard working bunch of people behind the scenes who make it all happen. 👏👏👏👏

Hello, Louise here!

I have a sad announcement to make; I am very sorry to announce the closure of our beloved Meadows line.

Meadows was founded in 2019 as a sister-line and, in essence, the polar opposite to our flagship label L.F.Markey. It has brought me much joy to work on this label over the last 5 years but the time has come to simplify things, in both my life and workplace. The Meadows line is very labour intensive to produce and, as an independent business with limited time and resources, we have come to the decision to focus on L.F.Markey and put to Meadows on indefinite hiatus.

From today we will be offering a discount on our remaining stock, please do take this final chance to own a piece of Meadows. And if you don’t already, please do follow our other label

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers over the years, we have thoroughly enjoying bringing our take on folklore and femininity to you. We really appreciate the love and support you have shown us.
