TEST KNIT CALL

It’s been a while since I did a test call!

This vest came from a gap in my wardrobe, and I don’t think there is ever a better reason to knit something than when you are searching online to buy one. I love stripes, I love button throughs, I couldn’t find what I wanted so I made it. She has the most beautiful stripe layout, making her an incredibly engaging knit with so many colour combos available! She is worked top down, boxy fit, with the stripes running seamlessly over the button band. She is a timeless summer staple that can be worn as a top and pairs perfectly with jeans, shorts or skirts.

Available for sizes 1-9 (28-62” chest), in Aran weight yarn.

Deadline for the finished test knit is 24th June

This is one of those times where I’ve knit a swatch for a design, then completely change the shape 🤣.

But it’s definitely for the better, this was going to go into a detailed top and it’s going to lose the impact of the gingham.

So she is now going into a different, clean, simple shape (and the gingham will be scaled down) it’s going to be beautiful!!

Excited to do some colourwork again it’s been a while!!

I think it’s healthy to reflect when things arnt working. I don’t see things doing badly an embarrassment it’s just room to learn!

I definitively feel there’s been a bit of a shift in what I’m designing these days, maybe because I’m older I seek out more staples over statement/trend pieces, but I still keep them cute, feminine and colourful!

Were you surprised by any of these? Did you know these patterns existed? Do we still love them of have the just had their time now?

New design is off the needles! Although that top button is annoying me so need to tweak that.

This looks so simple but was actually such a headache to create 😅 I’ll go more into that in another post but it’s been a labour of love 🤣.

I’m going to tweak her a bit for the pattern I think. The armholes have come up a little small so I’m going to drop them, and I think I’m going to make the increases visible on the armholes. I don’t usually but I did and then frogged and did them like this. But they are puckering a little so I need to swatch that. I also think I’ll give an option for side splits as I was suppose to and forgot 🙃.

I hope you like her!! She’s such a perfect stripe staple! But sooooo cute!

Forever my go to silly little spring vest because she makes even the most basic of outfits adorable with her pretty lace design, cute tie sides, and soft fluffy texture.

After doing a post the other week saying top down is overrated, a lot of people said one of the reasons they don’t pick bottom up is because the don’t like seaming.

Bottom up doesn’t mean seaming. I actively avoid seaming where I can on my patterns because although I like it, I know a lot of people don’t!

So here’s a list of bottom up patterns to try that don’t involve seaming, sleeves and ties are all picked up, shoulders are joined with a 3 needle bind off, they are all worked in the round or in one piece.

Don’t let seaming put you off bottom up knitting.

This was actually something I spoke about recently in therapy and wasn’t something I realise I did or even thought about until my therapist mentioned it.

I feel like it’s so easy to give all your energy and care to other things in your life. Then when it comes to caring for yourself you have nothing left so you just skip that because it easier to let yourself down than others.

Something to think about… do you find you get all your work and family stuff done, but when it comes to simple things like, feeding yourself, generally looking after yourself (hygiene, appearance) that it’s the first thing you remove on your todo list? Then this might be something to work on. Because you need to care for yourself to be able to care for others.

For me, food is the first thing to go off my list and is the area I will always neglect. I have also had dye my roots on my list for 4 weeks now and it is always the only thing I don’t do 🙃
