Top Tips for Winter Carrying

❄️ Rethink Snowsuits

Snowsuits are better kept for snow and may lead to overheating and poor position. They can also be bulky and uncomfortable. Avoid or use with care!

❄️ Prefer Cardigans

Safer and easier than snowsuits: easy to remove indoors without having to take baby out of the sling!

❄️ Layers are Best

Baby wears the same many layers as you or one more. Slings count as one at least! Remove layers indoors.
In a typical UK winter, this is enough:

* singlet / bodysuit / vest
* sleepsuit (loose on feet)
* cardigan / light jumper
* hat and booties (leg warmers
optional too)
* coat / cover shared with parent or
baby coat outside of the sling.

That's it! Cooler is safer than overheated!

❄️ Share a Coat

There are great babywearing coats, and an oversized jackets, poncho or shawl will do the same job. There are also coat extenders to use with your own coat.

Use a baby coat / blanket / poncho on the outside of the sling, or choose a special sling cover. See photo captions for ideas!

❄️ Protect Extremities

Outdoors, use a baby hat, booties or leg warmers. Leave hands uncovered, unless it's bellow freezing.

❄️ Airways Free

Check airways and baby's temperature frequently. Always be responsive to baby. Ensure bulky jumpers or scarves do not cover baby's face.
