Through race coverage, podcasts, rider guides and expert commentary, they’ve helped bring greater visibility to the people, events and stories shaping the sport.

Since 2022, .cycling has worked alongside DotWatcher to support the ultra-distance community, contribute expertise and help share the stories that make this side of cycling unique. As interest in ultra-distance riding continues to grow, we’re excited to build on that relationship and support the community together.

Daytripping Budapest.

Last weekend, and Albion ambassador came together to host a Hungarian Daytripping weekend.

Saturday began with stories from Benedek and local riders fresh from the Hellenic Mountain Race, followed by a screening of Mountains and Trees in the evening.

On Sunday riders gathered at Speedway for coffee before heading out into the Hungarian countryside. 180km of forest trails, steep climbs and a ferry crossing of the Danube made for a memorable day in the saddle, finishing with pizza and beers back in Budapest.

A huge thank you to Benedek, Zolli and the entire Speedway team for their hospitality and for bringing the local cycling community together.

The is never easy. The route’s notorious terrain, technical riding and remote nature have earned it a reputation as the often underestimated challenge in the Mountain Races series. This edition added another layer of difficulty. Snow on the high ground. Thunderstorms rolling through the mountains and constant uncertainty.

The stretch from Karpen*ssi to the finish in Nafpaktos was a fitting conclusion. The highest ratio of climbing on route, sparsest resupply points and empty ridgelines stretching into the distance as riders wind down dirt roads through olive groves towards the sea.

With just over 120 riders reaching the finish inside the cut-off, this has been an exceptionally attritional edition.

Congratulations to every rider who lined up and to every finisher. In a race as demanding as the this year’s edition, reaching Nafpaktos is a remarkable achievement.

The first 24 hours of provided tight racing and a mix of every condition. Snowy passes, river crossings and a brutal climb over Greece’s second highest peak meant that as the front of the race passed through CP1, some early signs of wear and tear were already beginning to show.

In the men’s race, Rick Steffen hit CP1 first after driving the pace from the opening climb, stopping only briefly before heading back into the dark, before sadly later having to scratch. Benedek Borsos arrived battling stomach issues, while Max Riese followed shortly behind.

Cynthia Carson arrived first among the women after fighting through sickness on the climb, before Justyna Jarczok rolled in just 19 minutes later after a day that included both a river fall and a bear encounter. Justyna was first back out onto course and now leads the race heading deeper into the mountains. Gala Giannini reached the refuge later that morning, shaken by Smolikas but still moving strong.

The race now moves into more technical terrain, where confident bike handling and experience in the mountains could start to open meaningful gaps.

Emma Missale and Sean Geivett roll into with momentum already building. Following a second-place finish at Atlas Mountain Race, achieved against the odds of injury setbacks and the challenge of racing together for the first time, the pair now turn their focus to the next chapter of an ambitious goal: completing all four Mountain Races within a single calendar year together.

“Hellenic Mountain Race is a very special route for us. In 2024, when we decided to begin the ultra journey we’re now on, we initially registered as a pair. As things unfolded, we decided to race it solo instead, as we were still so fresh to it all. It ended up being the right call.

Hellenic Mountain Race reshaped our brains in a way we’ll always be grateful for. The elevation, the exhausted tyre tracks etched into the ground, and the elation that came with completing such a sublime route. We’re so happy to be back in the Pindus Mountains, taking on a route that means so much to our journey, this time together as a pair.

We are looking forward to turning up the heat and giving it a full send in pursuit of glory and personal growth.”

The podium is now complete. Congratulations to Anna Richter, the inaugural winner of .

From snowfall on Torre to emotional CP cut offs and the fight for the remaining podium spots, Day 3 of Lost Dot 101 showed the depth of riding across the field.

With the leaders now in Córdoba and CP2 officially closed, riders remain spread across the Iberian Peninsula, facing long days, changing conditions and the accumulated fatigue that defines ultra distance racing.

wins the 2026 Highland Trail 550.

The one and only Kerry MacPhee is the first woman back to Tyndrum and third overall, finishing with an elapsed race-time of just over 4-days.

Kerry built up a big lead in an incredible field of riders, featuring a record 32 women on this year’s startline. She’s shown again just how strong she is over this terrain. She won the race in 2024, then lost her bike to a fast flowing river in 2025, so she returned this year with big plans for a fast ride. Falling five feet off a bridge after ripping a sidewall and spending long, cold nights riding meant she could have easily been forced to change her plans, but her optimism and whole approach has been inspiring.

Kerry’s updates throughout the race have given us all amazing insight into how she feels during these races, clearly loving the journey regardless of what is thrown at her. Her sister (Kirsty) has been a phenomenal source of information for anyone DotWatching and deserves her own mention too.

.and.bikes wins the 2026 Highland Trail 550.

Justinas is the first to make it back to Tyndrum, finishing in a (still to be confirmed) time of 3 days, 11 hours and 57 minutes.

For Justinas it was a case of ignorance is bliss as he took on 550 miles of trail, all of which was new to him. He stopped to talk to trail angels, enjoyed a whisky, slept for four hours in a bothy and ate proper food when given the chance.

Justinas seemed to smile throughout the race, but the weather was typically unpredictable and has been a challenge for everyone riding, with snow seen out on the trail.

There is still a big race on out there which we’ll be following over night. Congratulations Justinas!
