In 2019, I wrote about what it meant to be a woman in motorcycling.
Back then, I’d just heard some negative comments from someone in the British racing world — the kind of remarks that made it clear how much work was still to be done.

Born on the Isle of Man, into a family where everyone competes in motorsports, I’ve been around bikes my whole life — from riding pillion as a toddler on my dad’s bikes to tearing around on my little Honda 50 motocross. The love for motorcycles runs through me and through this island’s history.

When I wrote that post, I said what so many women riders feel: that being female doesn’t make us any less knowledgeable, capable, or passionate about bikes. We belong in this world every bit as much as anyone else.

And now, five years on, I’ve heard again those same kinds of negative comments about women in motorcycling — the kind that remind you why movements like Women Riders World Relay (WRWR) still matter so much. But the difference now is that we’re not fighting to be noticed anymore — we are noticed. The voices of women riders are stronger, our visibility is growing, and our impact on the industry can’t be ignored.

Through WRWR, I’ve seen first-hand how women around the world are stepping up, speaking out, and reshaping the future of motorcycling. What started as one relay has become a global movement — one that’s given women visibility, connection, and confidence in an industry that’s finally starting to listen.

Coming from the Isle of Man — the beating heart of motorcycle racing — that change feels especially powerful. More women are riding the Mountain Course, competing, working in the paddocks, or simply finding freedom on the open road. The ripple effect is real, and it’s inspiring.

We’re not asking for space — we’re taking it.
We ride. We lead. We mentor. We inspire.
And we’re nowhere near done.
