Tamara comes from an eclectic background that has always been a strong part of her identity, and has had a massive influence on who she is as a designer. Brought up in the heart of London by a Fijian Indian mother that has a vivacious love of life, travel and colour to an almost overwhelming extent. She had no choice but to keep up with her enthusiasm and go along for the ride. This was until four
years ago, when she met her husband, Jack, who decided to literally turn her world on its head - and introduced her to the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of Melbourne, Australia, where they are now based. After studying Printed Textile Design for Womenswear at Central Saint Martins, she fell down the weird and wonderful rabbit hole that lead to world of ballroom dancing. She has now been a dance wear designer for nearly 8 years - three years in London at Chrisanne, working on various projects including Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing on Ice and Britain’s Next Top Model, and for 5 years in Melbourne at June Designs, designing for Dancing With the Stars Australia. On starting her own label, it was inevitable that a sense of drama, movement and vibrancy would infiltrate into her own work . She makes one off pieces for clients ranging from race wear, wedding dresses to performance pieces. She says: ‘I like my designs to reflect an idea of Assertive Femininity. I use the silhouettes of my garments to enhance and flatter the female form, in all the assortment of shapes and sizes it comes in. I use colour ways, textures and embellishments make my garments completely unique and to suit the individual.’
