We are deeply sad to announce the passing of Haroon Abdul Dada, one of the pioneers of the UK textile trade and someone deeply dedicated to charitable endeavors his entire life. Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return.
*
Haroon came to the UK in 1972, one of the 20,000 Ugandan Asians exiled from the country by Idi Amin. For 30 years from the 1970s, Haroon and his brothers (including Abdul-Sattar who has passed away) ran Sudan Stores - a fabric shop that became a beloved staple of the Sudanese and South Asian community in the 1980s and 1990s. Beyond its remit as a commercial outlet, Haroon used the shop to run religious functions and community events including hosting the legendary Qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
*
Haroon is well-known for his extensive charity work including helping to set up the London branch of Edhi Foundation (a non-profit social welfare organization based in Pakistan founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi). His community work included being President of the Memon Association UK in 1986 where he led on turning an old factory building in Balham, South London into a buzzing communal hub. He is survived by his wife Ruqiaya Dada, his son Arif Haroon Dada, his daughter Mubina Dada and his grandchildren. Please keep him in your prayers and duas.

We will re-open December 2nd 2020. Needless to say, it’s such a tough time for small businesses in - just as we were building momentum, it has been halted due to a mishandled, inept, corrupt & disastrous series of policy proposals & revolving door politics where state power has simply rewarded wealthy companies with no experience of managing a global health crisis & a decade long gutting of our

But we will be back 🔜
We will get through this by supporting each other, showing love & showing up for one another. Characteristics which have been missing from our Government for years.

We leave our Zain Textiles family with some archive photos. See you all soon God willing. 🎈

*Announcement* On the Re-opening of Zain Textiles 🎈

To all our dear customers, we hope this reaches you in safety and health first & foremost. Eid Mubarak to everyone across the UK & the world celebrating.

We know how hard these last few weeks have been for our communities. Like many other small businesses, we’ve spent the last 9 weeks closed which has been tremendously difficult. As the lockdown eases, we hope to welcome you back with increased safety parameters - from distancing stickers to hand gel in-store.

We want to let all our customers know that we *hope* to open on the first week of June (w/c Monday 1st June 2020) but will of course await further Government instruction.

We will update our website and social media pages with further clarification once we can confirm this. Please note, we are still processing orders via the website for customers looking to shop online.

In the meantime, here are some photos of Zain Textiles in 2004 - we’re excited to welcome you all back as soon as it is safe to do so.
