When we say we’re trying to balance our doomscrolling…

“We started OHO de Condesa because we saw a world starved of social interaction through 2020. Our collective trauma was unable to spill out through sharing with friends and was instead festering within us.

And while all of that was happening, we were learning new habits that stuck, such as doomscrolling. The act of seeing bad news and scrolling through our social media feeds only to find more bad news. So how do we come back to ourselves? How do we learn to balance collective trauma with our communities?”

The flower stalls are full of bright-orange cempasúchil (marigold), paths of their orange petals start to form on the outside of houses, papel picado (tissue paper cut in intricate shapes of skulls and parties) adorns the streets in every colour, photographs of deceased loved ones are put out proud...

Yesterday during ’s online market we presented our newest brand on the site. 📣 We are so excited to be selling exclusively!

The idea for Paash was born in 2016 when Mafer, the founder, visited India. 🇮🇳 She fell in love with the merging of artisan techniques and meditation. Back in Mexico 🇲🇽, she re-connected with an old friend, Fer, and together they created Paash.

Paash products are designed with healthy energy and chakra philosophy in mind. While searching for the purpose of the brand, they decided they wanted it to have an impact in their society. Their artisans are under-represented people in Mexico City - from men and women in prison to house workers - being paid fair wages from the products they create ✨

HRH Prince Philip watching the Monarch butterfly's migration in Mexico in 1988.

On his conservation efforts, The Duke of Edinbrugh took particular concern to the conservation of the Monarch butterfly, something that is still a big issue in Mexico due to deforestation, climate change and commercial logging.

As he said, "Words alone cannot hope to convey the extraordinary nature of the Monarch’s life cycle."

This felt like an appropriate cause to share on the day of his funeral alongside this beautiful photo, curtesy of

CULTURE TALK: Creating a better world thorugh art with Alejandra Castañeda, the founder of Meshiko

Having grown up around archeological sites, small towns and museums, Alejandra always knew she wanted to work with artistry.

Her artistic spirit never waned, and when she moved to the UK, she knew it was time to do something about her childhood dream. Meshiko is the result. Alejandra works directly with artisan communities to take their ancient techniques, from weaving to colouring fabric, and turn them into beautiful, contemporary pieces. We caught up with her about what Meshiko has meant to her, where her passion started and the fear of uprooting your life.

Read the blog:

Having grown up around archeological sites, small towns and museums, Alejandra always knew she wanted to work with artistry. Particularly if that art had anything to do with Mexico's indigenous communities, having seen them when accompanying her mother to restoration works. Her artistic spirit never...

Have you checked out Meshiko's bags on our website yet?

They created directly by five different artisan cooperatives, from families to feminist groups, which means their art is paid fairly and each artisan works on their own terms. The process allows them to enhance their creativity and still have time to be with their families.
