Manchester City and Liverpool have made the perfect start to the new season with a 100% record after three games, but things could not have gone any worse for Everton.

They are bottom of the table and are yet to pick up a point, but the international break offers teams the chance to regroup and reflect on their start so far.

Here, BBC Sport takes a look at one thing we have learned from every club in the Premier League after three games.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Joao Cancelo could still have a future at the club after revealing there have been no enquiries for the Portugal defender.

Cancelo spent last season on loan at Barcelona, having been at Bayern Munich for the second half of the 2022-23 campaign after falling out of favour at City.

The 30-year-old had been Guardiola's prototype inverted full-back but experienced a sudden reversal of fortunes with the Premier League champions just months after he signed a new contract, which is not due to expire until 2027.

With Barcelona not interested in taking Cancelo back to the Nou Camp, Guardiola faces having to bring the player City paid £60m for in 2019 back into the fold.

Manchester United winger Antony has explained why a traumatic upbringing in Brazil means critics who condemn his footballing abilities will not "write my story".

United made Antony the second-most expensive player in their history behind France World Cup winner Paul Pogba when they paid Ajax £82m for him in 2022.

The 24-year-old has rarely come close to justifying that fee and has scored just five goals and claimed three assists in 54 Premier League appearances.

Antony ended last season on the bench and was an unused substitute in the 2-1 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley in May.

However, on the eve of this weekend's Manchester derby rematch in the Community Shield, he offered a revealing insight into his tough background in a Sao Paulo favela that not all his friends were lucky enough to escape from.

Fourteen-year-old Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan has become the youngest ever Major Soccer League player.

Sullivan, who is expected to move to Manchester City when he is 18, was an 85th-minute substitute in the 5-1 win over New England Revolution at Subaru Park in Pennsylvania.

At 14 years and 293 days, he broke the record set by Freddy Adu, who was 14 years and 306 days when he played for DC United in 2004.

The teenager also became the youngest North American player in the top flight of a team sport.

Sullivan's brother Quinn, 20, was one of Union's goal-scorers on Wednesday.

Asked about his brother's goal, scored shortly before he came on, Sullivan said: "It was absolute chaos. Awesome goal from him, great finish.

Former France captain Hugo Lloris has described the controversial song sung by some Argentina players as an "attack on French people" but hopes it was a mistake that the players involved will learn from.

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is facing sanctions from the Premier League club after posting a video on social media that the French Football Federation said included alleged "racist and discriminatory language".

World governing body Fifa is also investigating the video, in which several members of the Argentina squad - celebrating their 1-0 win over Colombia in the Copa America final - take part in a song originally sung by Argentina fans questioning the heritage of France's black and mixed-race players.

Jamie Murray says he wants to play doubles at Wimbledon alongside his younger brother Andy because it looks to be "now or never" for the pair.

The siblings have never played together at their home Grand Slam and have discussed teaming up this year.

Two-time singles champion Andy Murray, 37, is considering retirement and says he does not plan to play much beyond this summer.

"It would obviously be really cool to do it," said 38-year-old Jamie.

Morrisons has received a backlash from angry farmers as it trials the sale of New Zealand lamb instead of 100% British lamb in 39 of its stores.

The supermarket says the move is due to customer demand for cheaper prices.

"The blunt commercial reality is that New Zealand lamb is cheaper to source", it said in a statement, adding that its butchers' counters will still sell British lamb.

The National Farmers Union (NFU) said it was "disappointing" at a time the British livestock industry was under pressure and that New Zealand lamb is "produced to potentially lower standards".

NFU livestock board chair David Barton said he hoped the supermarket dropping its commitment to sell only British lamb was temporary and that the trial would come to an end.

"Recently, the UK farming unions wrote to the chief executive of Morrisons and other top retailers seeking support for the industry including a steadfast commitment to local sourcing in order to maintain food production across the UK and to safeguard our food security", he said.

Meanwhile, the National Sheep Association (NSA) said it was "dismayed and frustrated" by the decision, which "goes against all the principles on which the supermarket has built its reputation amongst the farming community".

But Morrisons said the trial follows an "extensive exercise" listening to customers who "were very clear" that they wanted the supermarket "to sell lamb at a more accessible price all year round".

It added that New Zealand lamb was cheaper to source than British lamb, although the NFU said the meat from overseas comes with "significant food miles".

Mr Barton said that the "unprecedented wet weather" was an "enormous challenge" for British farmers, urging Morrisons to stick to its 100% British lamb commitment.

Morrisons said: "We do not intend this move to mean a reduction in the overall volumes of lamb that we buy directly from British farmers."

It added that New Zealand lamb will be clearly labelled so customers in the stores participating in the trial can "make a choice".

NSA chief executive Phil Stocker said: "We learnt of this disappointing news whilst returning from the Field to Fork Summit held yesterday with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street."

He described it as an event "that was designed to show support for UK agriculture and where the supermarket itself had a presence promoting its commitment to British farmers."

"So, the timing of this announcement is really quite unbelievable", he added.

Mr Stocker said that UK sheep farmers received "strong prices" because of their high standards, and that the "realistic prices" provided much needed money for re-investment in to their farms in the wake of the Schmallenberg virus causing losses on many farms, and the threat of Bluetongue - an insect-borne viral disease.

Morrisons announced in March that it had made a loss of more than £1bn last year, driven by soaring financing costs as the firm's debt also grew.

The losses come at a time customers' housing budgets are squeezed in the face of the cost of living crisis, which according to major supermarkets has changed shopping habits for good, as people seek out cheaper products.

Hundreds of workers at Heathrow Airport are to strike for a week in a dispute over outsourcing of jobs.

Unite said 800 of its members plan to strike from 7 to 13 May due to what it called "deplorable action" from the airport's management.

The strike action is separate to a 72-hour walkout on 4 May involving 50 refuelling staff.

A Heathrow spokesman said: "We are reorganising our operations to deliver better results for our customers."

The union said workers in passenger services, who assist travellers to catch connecting flights, trolley operations and security guards are to have their jobs outsourced by June.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "Heathrow Airport's actions are deplorable. It is raking in massive profits for the bosses while trying to squeeze every last penny out of its workforce.

"Unite is fully focused on defending its members' jobs, pay and conditions, and our members at Heathrow will receive the union's unrelenting support during this dispute."

A Heathrow spokesman said: "We are reorganising our operations to deliver better results for our customers. There are no job losses as a result of these changes, and we continue to discuss with Unite the implementation of these changes for the small number of colleagues impacted.

"Unite's threats of potential industrial action are unnecessary, and customers can be reassured that we will keep the airport operating smoothly, just like we have in the past."

The traditional "shout auction" at Peterhead fish market could become a thing of the past.

The Aberdeenshire town - the UK's largest fishing port - still uses the old method of buyers calling out their bids for boxes of fish.

But Peterhead Port Authority is now consulting on the possible introduction of an electronic auction system.

This could allow buyers to purchase fish without them actually being physically present.

The port authority said an electronic auction - which is commonplace in many other markets - could "maximise supply and improve demand".

Launching the consultation, chief executive officer Graeme Reid said the organisation had to continually review operations.
