It remains to be seen if Cancelo is involved when City begin their quest to secure a fifth consecutive league title at Chelsea on Sunday.

Guardiola already knows influential midfielder Rodri will play no part.

Named player of the tournament in Spain's Euro 2024 triumph, Rodri did not return to City until Wednesday after his summer break.

Guardiola revealed Rodri has yet to train with City's main group after suffering a thigh injury during the first half of the Euros final victory against England.

"I think he feels good, but he has to return to training," said Guardiola. "We will see when he starts to move his body how he feels."

Rafael Nadal's first singles match since losing in the first round of the French Open in May ended with a 6-3 6-4 win against Leo Borg in the first round of the Swedish Open.

Nadal, 38, missed Wimbledon to focus on the Olympics in Paris this summer and was making his return to action at the tournament in Bastad.

The Spaniard, who won a doubles match with Casper Ruud on Monday, broke his 21-year-old Swedish opponent, the son of tennis legend Bjorn Borg, with a drop shot in the fourth game.

Nadal went on to serve out the ninth game to love to take the first set.

He broke world number 461 Borg in the first game of the second set and, despite losing the first point when serving for the match, Nadal won the game to claim victory in one hour 24 minutes.

Malaga will host the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in November after they were moved from Seville.

The 12-team women's competition will take place from 13-20 November at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena Arena, the same venue as the men's Davis Cup Finals.

The Davis Cup Finals, which begin on 19 November, will take place in Malaga for the third consecutive year.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) said the change was made at the request of the Regional Government of Andalucia, which partners with the BJK Cup.

Boxer Johnny Fisher has thanked his social-media star dad for keeping him "level-headed and grounded" as he looks to make his way up the heavyweight rankings.

Fisher stopped Alen Babic in 36 seconds at London's Copper Box Arena last weekend and is now unbeaten in 12 fights as a professional.

His father, 'Big' John Fisher, has 44,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel and also posts videos on TikTok, many about his love for Chinese food.

"He praises me, he promotes me, but in private he tells me what the truth is and I think that's what a good dad does - tell you the truth at all times," Fisher told BBC Essex.

Gareth Southgate's England squad selection for Euro 2024 received widespread approval for being bold and courageous - and yet he is still revisiting a debate stretching back two decades.

It is a conversation that returns to the era when England's then-manager Sven-Goran Eriksson failed to cash in what looked like a golden ticket stamped with the names of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.

Rugby fans were given a taste of what they can expect at the Olympics as France legend Antoine Dupont inspired his country to a Sevens World Series win in Madrid.

The French ran three tries past favourites Argentina to win the final 19-5, with Dupont laying on the decisive third score for Paulin Riva.

After waiting 19 years for a Sevens title, France have now won two of the five tournaments since Toulouse scrum-half Dupont joined the squad from the 15-a-side team.

McNulty’s pre-season prediction: Champions

Manchester City made a new mark in history with an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title, putting together one of their trademark surges to see off Arsenal’s excellent challenge.

Worthy champions with world class throughout. Kevin de Bruyne’s lengthy absence with a hamstring injury was overcome by the brilliance of Phil Foden, who hit new levels with 27 goals in all competitions and brilliant creation – while the magnificent Rodri remained unbeatable.

The largest music publisher in the world has sent letters to Google, Microsoft and OpenAI demanding to know if they have used its songs to develop artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

Sony Music, which represents artists like Beyonce and Adele, is forbidding anyone from training, developing or making money from AI using its songs without permission.

In the letter sent to more than 700 firms, Sony Music said it has "reason to believe" that the addressees "may already have made unauthorized uses" of its music.

The BBC has approached Google, Microsoft and OpenAI for comment.

Sony Music has given firms a deadline to respond and says it will enforce its copyright "to the full extent permitted by applicable law", such as the EU's upcoming AI Act.

Rishi Sunak has "set us back" on climate change and left the UK at risk of falling behind other countries, the head of a government watchdog has said.

Chris Stark, head of the Climate Change Committee (CCC), told the BBC the prime minister had "clearly not" prioritised the issue as much as his predecessors.

He accused Mr Sunak of sending the world a message that the UK is now "less ambitious" than it once was.

A government spokesperson said: "Our record on net zero speaks for itself."

Mr Stark said the country had made enormous progress towards reaching the climate target of net zero by 2050 under Theresa May and Boris Johnson.

But Mr Sunak's Downing Street had sent a message to the rest of the world that "the UK is less ambitious on climate than it once was, and that is extremely hard to recover".

Reaching net zero means no longer adding to the total amount of greenhouse gases - such as carbon dioxide and methane - in the atmosphere. The government is bound to this target by law.

The CCC is a statutory body that gives independent advice to ministers and assesses progress on targets.

A government spokesperson told the BBC: "We are the first major economy to halve greenhouse gas emissions since 1990 and have set into law one of the most ambitious 2035 climate change targets of any major economy," referring to the target to cut emissions from manufacturing by about two-thirds by 2035.

"But we need to reach our net zero goals in a sustainable way, so we have taken action to protect our energy security, ease the burdens on hard-working people and provide transparency about the choices involved so that we bring people with us in meeting our climate targets."

In the autumn, Mr Sunak delayed a ban on new petrol and diesel cars, and weakened targets on phasing out gas boilers, as part of a major shift in green policy.

"I think it's set us back," Mr Stark said, during an interview that will be broadcast in full on the Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show.

"So I think we have moved from a position where we were really at the forefront, pushing ahead as quickly as we could on something that I believe to be fundamental to the UK economy, fundamentally beneficial to the people living in this country, whether you care about the climate or not."

He said the UK had been successful in "decarbonising how we generate electricity, especially by closing coal-fired powerplants".

But to get to net zero, more needs to be done on "how we heat homes, or how we deal with the industrial emissions that we have in this country, what we do with farming [and] transport systems".

"It's in those other areas that we see the gap," he said.

"I definitely feel we're at risk."
