With a heavy heart we said goodbye today, to our beautiful triage nurse and attack cat, Martha. Yesterday she was fine. This morning, she was so poorly and the vets couldn't work out what was wrong. The back of the sofa looks very empty now.

This lovely chap was completely flat. He was stuffed with foam, and it had completely disintegrated into powder. It's really not good to inhale it - so I removed it while wearing a mask. He'd also lost his voice! His squeaker had disintegrated too! He feels much better now and can tell everyone about it. 🐻

Walked Hadrian's wall, made some friends , crossed the wall to avoid a giant white bull, got wet, dried off again, mourned over a tree stump at Sycamore gap, laughed a lot. Back to work now!

Introducing Brody's Bunny. Brody wanted me to fill in the bald patches with fur, but not remove his name, or touch Bunny's nose. I embroidered over the name to make it a little clearer. Bunny had also been previously repaired with the addition of a bandana. This had to go back on. I also replaced the inner velvety part of Bunny's ears. 🐰

This is Wally the Monkey (friend of Dumbo in the last post). Hopefully the 'spot the difference' picture should be tricky, as the challenge was - to clean him, replace his degraded foam stuffing, and repair his seams that were all a bit weak and giving way - while not making him look or feel any different. No fluffing of his fur allowed! I removed the old foam, but his feet were filled with polystyrene.
I managed to clean it using a system involving a colander and sieve, then I spooned it back into his feet. He still walks with the same satisfying crunch.

This is Dumbo the monkey. He came in with another monkey friend who also had surgery. He belongs to Matthew, who has passed him on to his daughter. Poor Dumbo's legs were made out of dungarees and he'd worn them right through to the stuffing. Too much tree climbing I bet! It was requested that I 'magic mended' him, and change as little as possible. His new mummy had extreme anxiety that he should be the same, both to look at and feel. I remade his trousers, fusing the old ones over the new. I also washed his wool stuffing and created an elaborate drying cage, so it could dry thoroughly in the sunshine without my cats deciding it would make a comfy bed. He's now returned home, and has been approved!
