The Evergreen Collection: Shirting Edition. It’s time to welcome in a new season. After a long summer, that back-to-school (or back-to-work) feeling never really goes away – a mix of faintly nostalgic summer melancholy and fresh, new-start energy. The Oxford Button Down – a shirting classic no wardrobe should be without. Rotate the White, Blue and Blue Ticking.

James Butterworth tells us this while taking a break from the sun, the soil and the two-acre Cotswolds plot that has become the foundation of the organic vegetable business Cotswold Market Garden he has spent the past six years building.
Just like that came a complete epiphany. A successful career in academia - one he had devoted almost ten years to pursuing - was suddenly behind him, replaced by a clear and urgent desire to create something tangible from the land: something rooted in community, human connection and meaningful work.

Growing on his terms…
James Butterworth on leaving academia behind to build Cotswold Market Garden

“I went to bed one night not really questioning what I was doing. When I woke up, I knew without doubt that I was going to do something completely different.”

Our Linen Store brings together this season’s linen favourites in one place. Softly tailored jackets and trousers can be worn together for summer occasions or comfortable warm-weather workwear, while proving equally versatile as separates for more relaxed or holiday dressing.

While studying for a Fine Art degree at The Slade in London, a young Jake Hobson was introduced to ‘Hanami’ - Japan’s cherry blossom festival - which soon evolved to stories of gardens, rituals and cultural touchstones from a country that felt worlds away from the green and pleasant upbringing of his native Hampshire. With his interest piqued, Hobson travelled to Japan for a month. He arrived to observe the cherry blossom season for an assignment, but discovered something far more enduring: the gardens of Japan. He left with a lifelong fascination for the country, its people, culture and, above all, its approach to gardens. This set Hobson on the path to creating Niwaki, a lifestyle brand unlike any other.

Full story in the summer edition of The Yarn, in stores and with all online orders.

Jake wears William Crabtree made-to-measure Chore Jacket, Caspian Slipover, Kildare Tartan Linen Shirt, Dark Green & Red Heel & Toe Socks, and his own jeans.
