An original British Army camouflage Gas Cape in incredible, unissued condition.

This was found in a 1943 dated box of gas capes last summer and is the last to be offered for sale. The condition is fantastic with the cape still being soft and pliable meaning it can be displayed easily and it is totally free of damage or wear.

Now available is this original 1940s British leather jacket which looks to be handmade rather than commercially made.

This is rare because it is a very dark, almost black colour rather than the more commonly seen brown leathers. It features a brass ‘Newey’ branded zip, simple elastic waistband and bold plaid checked lining.

The small stand collar and patch pockets with press studs are typical of 1940s made jackets and would suggest that it was made in that decade.

A little wooden suitcase from the war was found in’s loft this week. Inside was the original owners battledress from 1942. He was a member of 576th Corps Field Park Regiment RE, sometimes referred to as 1st Hampshire engineers and they fought in the western desert, Sicily and all the way up through Italy.

A piece of newspaper from 1947 was the only other thing left in the suitcase. I’m hoping to get more details about the owner soon.

Another look at the 1947 Velocette KSS out in Kent a couple of weekends ago.

Having bought the bike and thoroughly recommissioning it, this weekend was its first test. It completed over 150 miles without any issues. Apart from the horn bracket fracturing and breaking off…

I’m very lucky to have some very cool and highly talented friends. One of those is Olivier Raab who asked me to sit for him dressed in Battle of Britain kit for a portrait.

The result is truly incredible! I cannot believe what an amazing piece of art this is. Olivier has painted it in a style in keeping with portraits done during the war and it could well have been from 80 years ago. Even the frame and the inscription in the top corner with ‘RAF Duxford, Sept 1940, No. 19 SQDN’ are just ‘right’.

Incidentally, the scarf I’m wearing in the portrait was worn Ken Wilkinson who flew spitfires in the Battle of Britain with 19 squadron. He’s shown in the last slide.

Just incredible on so many levels. It has to be the nicest gift anyone has ever given me.

Incredible 1950s ladies two piece motorcycle suit now available!

This is the ‘Lincoln Suit’ which was introduced in 1956 as one of the First Ladies designs by this brand. It is made from an incredible early plasticised fabric which is highly waterproof and windproof. It features a derby wool type pattern to both jacket and trousers.

Even better is it comes complete with a picture of the original owner wearing it!
