Great to get the installation phase under way on this soon-to-be timber commercial staircase 🪵

Huge well done to everyone involved, designers, consultants, planners, and makers ⚙️ for pulling together and getting the plan over the line. Proper team effort 👏

Sometimes structural engineering is as basic as making sure the sculpture doesn’t fall on someone’s head 🏗️ ⭐

However, that question may then lead to others:

How does this geometry work - a stellated icosohedron inside a dodecahedron?

If we push and pull it a bit, can we make the star sit exactly inside and support the existing yellow bit?

How can we make the connections easily without making bespoke nodes?

Can we make this from bits that we can get from a hardware store?

Does it look right in the space?

had an enjoyable time sketching with to help in these early questions, and it was wonderful to see the resulting artwork hanging from the dome of the as the major intervention in Cosmos, their current exhibition.

It’s a superb exhibition, and well worth a visit. And you also get to share the stage with a 4.2 BILLION year old meterorite.
