“Dolly Parton wasn’t just a legend—she was the kind of person the world desperately needs more of. Her talent and wit lit up every stage, but it was her gentle heart, quick humor, and unwavering positivity that made her truly unforgettable. As someone building a fashion brand in this industry her style could not be repeated, she made it her own, she was a style Icon. She was an extremely intelligent woman that used her kindness and quick wit to out smart any man that tried to challenge her. With my experience in the heart of the Uk Americana country music scene, I’ve heard more covers of her songs than any other artist, which reminds us of the incredible mark she made on the world and the County music scene in every corner of the world. Her music always felt like a safe place, a warm embrace in the middle of it all. When she came out with her Rockstar album it felt like a farewell album and a tribute to all the iconic Artists she had admired and loved. It also showed us what a bad ass she was even in her 80’s. I remember hearing’World On Fire’ it was her way of being political without saying it, she sung in a way she knew the world was going into turmoil and as always she communicated best through her music. With everything going on in the world right now, it feels a little less bright without her in it. Someone needs to carry on that torch.” Well done Dolly you came, you conquered and you won the world over, you succeeded in life, love and music, you made us laugh, cry and made us sing along with your songs, you will never be forgotten and your songs will echo for an eternity… your legend will live on and you will forever be celebrated… lets all be little more like Dolly and bring the light to this world that it so desperately needs. Well it’s taken us a hot minute to take stock of what an awesome time we had at Country Calling Festival UK the other week. What we can say and you can probably tell from these pics and video is that we did plenty of socialising! 🤣😉.
It was so good to meet new friends like Samuel Ashton and BROOKE LAW and catch up with our favourites Outpost Drive and Britt Jenkins . Thank you to everyone for the laughs and the vibes at Country Calling Festival UK 2nd instalment and to Donna Zanetti & plus the wider team for putting on such a great event!

For the first time since The Long Road began, Vera Black will not be trading at the festival.

That isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly.

We were there from the beginning, and it has been a privilege to watch the festival grow into one of the UK’s best-loved Americana and country music events. Along the way we’ve met incredible people, worked alongside a brilliant production team, shared pitches with some of the most talented independent traders in the country, and built friendships with customers who have supported us year after year.

To everyone who has bought a hat, some jewellery or simply stopped for a chat, thank you. You have helped build Vera Black into the brand it is today, and we never take that support for granted.

Since our early years in Bondi, Portobello Road, and Camden Lock we’ve believed that independent traders are more than just vendors. We help create the atmosphere, the character and the community that make festivals a memorable experience.

We don’t simply occupy space—we help bring it to life.

That’s why this decision matters.

As festivals continue to grow, commercial pressures inevitably change the way they operate. We understand that. Every business has to make commercial decisions.

But we also believe the strongest events are built on partnership, trust and collaboration between organisers and the independent businesses that invest their time, money and creativity into making those events special.

When those values no longer align with our own, we believe the right thing to do is step away.

This isn’t about looking backwards. It’s about staying true to the principles that built Vera Black in the first place.

We’ll continue supporting the festivals, communities and partnerships that share our belief that independent businesses deserve to be valued as part of the experience, not simply part of the balance sheet.

We’ll be putting all of our energy into the events ahead, including Country Calling Festival UK , where we’d love to see familiar faces and meet plenty of new ones.

Sometimes the hardest decisions are the ones that define who you are.
