The sleep transition nobody talks about. 🌿

There’s a moment every parent has with the sleeping bag.

For some, it’s quiet. Standing over the cot, wondering if they’re too big for it now.

For others, it’s a nearly three-year-old kicking their legs out mid-zip. A very firm no. A small human making it clear that this chapter is over.

Both are normal. And genuinely, nobody tells you when the right moment is.

So we wrote the guide we wish someone had handed us.

The signs they’re ready. The signs they’re not. What comes next when the baby sleeping bag is done and why the sweaty polyester duvet set doesn’t have to be the answer.

New on the journal.

Save this for the next time you’re standing over the cot at 8pm wondering what to do.

We know this one sounds dramatic. So here’s the calm version.

Many blackout blinds are made from PVC, and when PVC warms up, sitting in direct sunlight all day for example, it can release these chemicals into the air as VOCs. You’ll recognise the smell from a new shower curtain or a paddling pool.

Now think about where a blackout blind lives. Against a sunny window and in the room where your child sleeps 10 to 12 hours a night.

This is not about fear, it’s about awareness.

Our blackout blinds are made from organic cotton, without PVC, so you get the pitch-black room that summer bedtimes demand and all year nap times, without the plastic warming against the glass.

Dark room. Cleaner air. Earlier bedtimes. Longer naps. Everyone wins.

This is exactly how we hoped they’d be used 🦄

These blankets do everything. Snuggling, playing, tummy time, naps, pram trips, proper bedtime sleeping., featuring our limited edition Unicorn Baby Blanket.

And they’re made exactly like our All-Season Bag. Organic bamboo wadding on the inside, organic cotton on the outside. Naturally breathable, temperature regulating, and completely free from polyester and synthetics.

Baby sizes for the newborn years. Kids sizes for when they’re bigger and still refusing to share it.

Unicorns, dinosaurs, and plain colours, so there’s one for every little personality.

Polyester is a plastic-based fibre. The same family of plastic (PET) that water bottles are made from. Spun soft, dyed, and sewn into most of the products our children sleep on.

Covers. Mattresses. Travel cots. Nearly all of it.

And synthetic fabrics can shed microplastics, right where your child spends 10 to 12 hours a night.

This isn’t about panic. It’s about knowing what’s against your child’s skin.

So we made our kids travel beds differently.

🌿 GOTS certified organic cotton, soft and breathable against their skin
🌿 A natural kapok filling, a plant fibre harvested from the seed pods of the kapok tree
🌿 Natural dyes, free from the harsh chemicals used in conventional fabric dyeing

No polyester. No synthetics. Nothing you wouldn’t want in their bed at home.

They’re back in stock now, just in time for the holidays.

Save this for later, or send it to a friend who’s mid packing list 🌿

Another hot night. Another 2am wake up.

Here’s what often gets missed. Most baby sleepwear is polyester or heavy cotton blends, which trap heat against their skin all night.

Our Tropical Nights sleeping bag was made for exactly this.

🌿 Featherlight 0.2 tog
🌿 Made from modal, a silky plant-based fibre that’s naturally breathable and stays cool to the touch
🌿 No polyester, no synthetics, nothing trapping heat in

Because a comfortable baby is a sleeping baby. And a sleeping baby means you might actually get some rest too.

For little ones from 3 months to 3 years, at home or away. Bee toy optional, but ours never travels without it 🐝

This heatwave isn’t slowing down. Your nights can still get easier.

The All-Season Bag has been quietly running our house for the past 9 years.

One of the reasons? British weather doesn’t pick a lane. One week it’s 12 degrees and raining, the next it’s 24 and humid. Our bedroom temperature swings about 7 degrees each day and our kids feel every single one.

The All-Season is designed for exactly this. One bag, every season. You layer up or pare back what they’re wearing underneath and the bag does the rest. No swapping togs every six weeks. No cupboard full of seasonal bedding, just one bag that works.

But the question we get more than any other is: what do I actually put underneath it?

So we’re going to answer it properly. 🌿

Drop a 🙋‍♀️ in the comments if you want our full What to Wear Underneath guide, we’ll post it next.

Save this for the next time you’re standing in front of the cot wondering whether to add the long-sleeved romper or keep it to a short-sleeved vest.

The onesie that quietly earns its place. 🌿

There’s a particular kind of layer older kids need. Not quite pyjamas. Not quite dressed. Something for the in-between moments that fill up so much of a childhood.

The cosy Sunday morning at the kitchen table. The holiday cottage evening after everyone’s had a bath. The camping trip when the sun goes down and everyone gets suddenly cold. The sleepover. The chilly autumn morning when the heating hasn’t quite kicked in yet.

Our Organic Kids Onesie was made for exactly those moments.
100% certified organic cotton with organic cotton plush inside the sleeves. Non-toxic dyes. Fold-over feet for extra warmth. Front-opening zip. Breathable, absorbent, and made to last for years, genuinely one of the few things in the wardrobe your child will still reach for at 10 that they loved at 5.

Sized 4-12 years. Buy slightly big and it’ll last them properly.

A note from Emma. 🌿

It’s the first week of Plastic Free July, and I wanted to share something I don’t talk about often. Why and actually exist.

When I had my first baby, I went looking for the things every new mum looks for. A sleeping bag I trusted. Clothes I felt good putting against her skin. Swimwear that didn’t feel like plastic.

And I couldn’t find them.

Everything was polyester. Synthetic fibres. PFAS-coated. Made with materials that, the more I read about them, the less I wanted in our home. The more I researched microplastics and what they were doing to children’s bodies, the less I could unsee it.

So we made our own. Sleep first. Then play. Then swim, which has now grown into Earthcove.

Plastic Free Kids Day is on the 8th of July. The reason it matters so much to us is that most parents have never been told this conversation is happening. They’re not being asked the questions we’re asking. They’re not being told what their children are wearing every day.

So we’re using the next week to start that conversation properly. Two Instagram Lives on the 7th at 8.30pm, Lucinda Miller on the 8th at 12.30pm

Come and join us on 🌿

If your baby won’t sleep in the heat, this is for you. 🌙

UK summers are getting genuinely hotter. Hot bedrooms, sticky nights, babies who can’t tell you why they keep waking. And the worry that quietly sits over every parent in warm weather: are they too hot?

Our Tropical Nights bag was made for these exact nights.

The lowest tog on the market. Designed specifically for the warmest weeks of the year. Made from modal, a soft, plant-based fibre that’s exceptionally breathable and naturally temperature-regulating. It works with your baby’s body temperature instead of against it.

Safe coverage. No overheating. No 2am temperature panic.

For babies and little ones from 3 months to 3 years.

Save this for the next warm spell. Or send it to a friend who’s been doing the night-shift sweat-check since May.

A quick note on the heatwave and sleep

Please check the labels on what your little one is sleeping in. Most baby sleepwear and sleeping bags are polyester, and polyester is plastic. It traps heat and makes a hot baby a much hotter one.

Natural fibres only and a low-tog sleeping bag for the warmest nights.

Our Tropical Nights bag is the lowest tog on the market at 0.2 tog. Made from modal, naturally cooling, plant-based, exceptionally breathable.

Order by 2pm for next day delivery.

Stay cool out there.
