On the surface, it might look like colourful yarn, project bags, and the very rare photo of whatever I’m knitting.

Behind the scenes? It’s colour planning, fabric hunting, dyeing, drying, sewing, photographing, packing orders, updating the website, answering emails... and drinking a truly impressive amount of tea. ☕

Every skein and every bag starts as an idea and passes through my hands more times than I could possibly count before it makes its way to you.

It’s often a little chaotic, usually covered in yarn or fabric, and there’s a good chance something is drying somewhere in the house right now. But after more than 10 years, I still wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hello, I’m Gemma - Gem to most people 👋

With so many new faces joining recently, I thought it was time for a proper introduction.

I’m the founder of The Little Grey Girl, and for nearly 10 years I’ve been sewing project bags, dyeing yarn, packing parcels, plus everything else 😉 and building this colourful little business one project bag or skein at a time.

TLGG has grown and evolved over the years, but at its heart it’s always been about creating products that bring a little joy to your making - whether that’s the perfect project bag, a carefully curated colour palette or a skein that makes you excited to cast on.

When I’m not working on TLGG or at my cafe day job, you’ll usually find me with a cup of tea in hand, a knitting project nearby and probably watching football or a good binge-worthy series.

Whether you’ve been here since the early days or you’ve only just discovered TLGG, thank you for being part of the journey.

May, in a nutshell ✨

A month of yarn, colour, coffee shop work days at far too many cups of tea (if there is such a thing) Champions League nights at the Emirates (and winning the league)

We travelled to meeting customers old and new plus spending time with my small business friends/family.

TLGG HQ was buzzing with yarn dyeing, packing orders, and planning exciting things behind the scenes, as well as finding little moments to enjoy along the way.

Not every moment makes it onto the grid, so here’s a little glimpse of what May looked like from my corner of the TLGG world.
