Age is no barrier to natural, beautiful results.

This lovely patient was absolutely delighted with the outcome of her upper and lower eyelid surgery, performed by Miss Lisa Jagan.

One of the questions we hear most often is, "Am I too old for eyelid surgery?" The answer is often no.

For many patients, eyelid surgery is far more straightforward than they expect. Performed as a day case under local anaesthetic, the goal is to make adjustments that restore natural function and have the most impact with the least amount of invasiveness.

Miss Lisa Jagan is known for her meticulous surgical technique, conservative approach and commitment to achieving natural-looking results that enhance rather than alter. Above all, she prioritises the long-term health and function of the eyes, ensuring every treatment plan is tailored to the individual.

If heavy eyelids or under-eye bags are affecting your confidence, comfort or vision, book a consultation to find out whether eyelid surgery could be right for you.

Do you have heavy eyelids - or could it actually be ptosis?

Many people assume that all droopy or heavy eyelids are the same.

In reality, there can be different causes.

One common condition is ptosis, where the muscle responsible for lifting the eyelid becomes weaker over time, causing the eyelid to sit lower than normal.

Symptoms may include:
• A tired or heavy appearance
• Reduced upper field of vision
• Difficulty reading or driving
• Raising your eyebrows to compensate
• Forehead tension or headaches

Ptosis is different from excess eyelid skin (which may be treated with blepharoplasty), so getting the correct diagnosis is important.

At Clinica London, our specialist oculoplastic surgeons assess the eyelids, brows and surrounding anatomy to determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient.

If you're noticing heavy, drooping eyelids or changes in your vision, book a consultation with one of our specialist oculoplastic surgeons. https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0wmhqh0

Summer can reveal skin changes you've never noticed before.

As the weather warms up and we spend more time outdoors, it's often the first time in months that we really notice changes in our skin.
Perhaps a mole looks different. A patch of skin feels rougher than before. Or a lesion you've ignored for years suddenly catches your attention.

Most skin changes are harmless - but not all skin lesions behave the same way.

It's worth seeking advice if you notice:

• A lesion becoming raised or changing texture
• Persistent irritation, itching or bleeding
• A spot that doesn't seem to heal
• Slow growth over time
• A skin change that simply doesn't feel quite right

At Clinica London, our Consultant Dermatologists Dr Jennifer Crawley and Dr Rebeca Calado assess a wide range of skin concerns, providing expert advice on monitoring, diagnosis and treatment where appropriate.

Early assessment can provide reassurance - or ensure that any concerns are addressed promptly.

If you've noticed a skin change or lesion that you'd like assessed, book a consultation with our dermatology team. https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0wk12m0

Could menopause be affecting your eyes?

Many women are aware that menopause can affect their skin, sleep and overall wellbeing.

What is less widely known is that hormonal changes can also affect the eyes.

During menopause, changes in hormone levels can impact tear production and tear quality, increasing the likelihood of:

• Dryness
• Irritation
• Burning or gritty sensations
• Fluctuating vision
• Increased sensitivity to light

These symptoms are often dismissed as a normal part of ageing, but they can have a significant impact on comfort and quality of life.

The good news is that support and treatment options are available.

At Clinica London, our dry eye specialists take a personalised approach to diagnosis and treatment, helping patients identify and address the underlying causes of their symptoms.

You protect your skin from UV - but what about your eyes?

Most of us remember sunscreen when the sun comes out. But UV exposure can affect your eyes too. Over time, prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light has been linked to a range of eye conditions, including cataracts and damage to the surface of the eye.

A few simple habits can help protect your vision:

• Wear sunglasses with UV protection
• Consider a wide-brimmed hat when outdoors
• Protect your eyes even on cloudy days
• Stay hydrated, particularly if you experience dry eyes
• Seek advice if bright light is becoming increasingly uncomfortable

Looking after your eyes now can help support long-term eye health in the years ahead.

If you have concerns about your vision, eye comfort or long-term eye health, book a consultation with one of our specialist ophthalmologists https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0wk1pF0

We’re obsessed with this result - just three weeks after brow lift and upper eyelid surgery.

Not only can we see this patient's eyes again, but he can see the world more clearly too.

Many men don't realise that their brows naturally sit lower with age. Over time, this can create a feeling of heaviness around the eyes, restrict the upper field of vision, and even contribute to forehead tension from constantly raising the brows to compensate.

As part of Men's Health Week, we're highlighting a condition that often goes unrecognised - despite having a significant impact on day-to-day comfort and vision.

This patient underwent a brow lift and upper eyelid surgery performed by Miss Lisa Jagan. The procedure was carried out as a day case under local anaesthetic, with the aim of restoring both function and a natural, masculine appearance.

At Clinica London, our specialist oculoplastic surgeons understand the subtle anatomical differences between male and female brows and eyelids, allowing them to achieve results that look natural while improving vision and comfort.

Most patients are back to desk-based work within around a week - and enjoying a whole new perspective (literally!).

Diabetes can affect your eyesight before you notice symptoms.

Many people are surprised to learn that diabetic eye disease often develops silently.

In fact, some patients experience no symptoms at all during the early stages, which is why regular eye examinations are so important.

Over time, diabetes can damage the tiny blood vessels within the retina - the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye responsible for vision.

While symptoms don't always appear immediately, diabetic eye disease can eventually cause:

• Blurred or fluctuating vision
• Floaters
• Difficulty seeing colours clearly
• Vision loss if left untreated

The good news is that early detection and monitoring can significantly reduce the risk of sight-threatening complications.

At Clinica London, patients are assessed by our experienced retinal specialists, including Professor Michel Michaelides, Ms Evgenia Anikina and Mr Julian Robins, using advanced retinal imaging to identify changes as early as possible.

Following Diabetes Awareness Week earlier this month, this is an important reminder that protecting your vision should be part of managing your diabetes.

If you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and would like a specialist retinal assessment, book a consultation with our team. https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0wggQM0

Watery eyes aren't always caused by producing too many tears.

In fact, persistent watering can sometimes be a sign that tears aren't draining properly, that the eyelids aren't functioning as they should, or that underlying inflammation is triggering the eye to over-produce tears.

Many people live with symptoms for years before discovering there's an identifiable cause - and often a treatment available.

If your eyes are watering regularly, it may be worth asking:
• Is it affecting daily life?
• Have drops failed to help?
• Is one eye worse than the other?
• Have symptoms been ongoing for months?

The first step is understanding what's causing it.

Book a consultation with our specialist team to discuss your symptoms and treatment options. https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vZV1v0

We're proud to share that Miss Jane Olver is attending and speaking at the 15th Congress of the International Society of Dacryology & Dry Eye (ISD-DE) in Tallinn, Estonia later this month.

As President of the society, Jane will be joining leading specialists from around the world to share knowledge, discuss advances in dry eye and lacrimal disease, and help shape the future of patient care.

Her lecture will focus on endoscopic DCR (tear duct surgery) and the management of watering eyes - an area in which she has spent decades treating patients, teaching surgeons and advancing clinical practice.

In this video, Jane shares her excitement about the congress, the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and friends, learn from fellow experts, and continue moving the field of dacryology forward.

At Clinica London, we believe our patients benefit when our consultants remain actively involved in international education, research and innovation.

We're looking forward to hearing about Jane's learnings when she returns.
