The business was started in 1982 by John Harrison who was at the time a clothing designer and ex international racing cyclist along with his wife Dorothy who was a sewing machinest. After John's frustration in trying to find a comfortable pair of cycling shorts he decided together they would design something more comfortable than the average shorts with the window cleaners rock hard chamois. Over 30 years later we are still manufacturing in the UK producing a full range of technical, wicking, breathable, windproof and waterproof garments from the racing to the leisure cyclist.

Manchester has a long history of textile manufacturing

During the Industrial Revolution, the city became one of the world’s leading textile manufacturing centres, with thousands of people working in mills and factories across Manchester and the surrounding towns.

But as the industry changed and more production moved overseas, many of those mills and factories closed their doors.

Today, only a small part of that industry remains, but we’re proud to still be designing and manufacturing cycling clothing right here in Manchester, just as we have since 1982.

LUSSO RIDE OUT 2027

After being involved in Action Medical Research’s Garmin Ride Out in the New Forest this year, we’re proud to be bringing an event up North, this time in the heart of the Lake District!

We’ve teamed up with Action Medical Research for Children to bring you a 100km ride through some of the Lake District’s most beautiful scenery, all while supporting a fantastic cause.

This month has been full on, from everyday factory life to getting ready to launch new products for our AW winter collection.
At the end of busy days, we love taking Toffee for walks in the local area. Peel Tower is always a favourite for the views of our great city.

We started off Sept with travelling from Wales after the bank holiday weekend to see how many of you took advantage of our end of summer sale. This pic was Jake trying to carry some of them into the factory to get packed.
Safe to say there was a lot more than we expected and Jake was very happy with all your support😊

This month the team have been busy manufacturing all the Autumn winter products ready for launch at the beginning of Oct.
Not long to go now👀

September has been a big one for trying to get ahead of things for the upcoming months. This has meant a lot of meetings.
Something exciting is in the works… 👀

This is a big thing that happens every month at Lusso. When Jake bought John 2.0 all of the old patterns had to get digitalised using a new software on the computer. Jake had the training and now he’s fully capable of changing, tweaking and creating patterns for Lusso.
It’s one of those jobs that probably doesn’t get noticed much, but it’s a massive part of getting a new product from an idea into something we can actually make.

Jake swapped his work clothes for cycling kit last week to wear the whole of the new AW collection for a ride so we could get a bit of footage while it was sunset. Safe to say the collection performed as expected and the footage turned out great.
Keep an eye out for it!
