Hooded sweatshirts were popularized by 1930s New York garment makers for laborers and cold storage workers, but one lesser-known design shift came from collegiate crews in the 1950s: they started reversing sweatshirts inside-out to show washed, textured fabric and exposed seams, creating a lived-in aesthetic that influenced modern fleece finishes and vintage-wash treatments used today.
At Defiantly Maybe, we lean into those aged textures and seam details to give our hoodies that authentic worn-in vibe.
