# 4. **How long do the walks last?**

# 5. **Why isnโ€™t there a fixed duration or distance for the walks?**
- Our walks vary and adapt based on the group and the dayโ€™s conditions, so they may change at the last minute.

# 6. **Can I bring my dog?**
- Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.

# 7. **Can I bring children?**
- Yes, children are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

For general questions, feel free to leave a comment, and one of our regular walkers will respond.

# 12. **Why do you not a have a WebSite?**
- We know a website would be useful, but right now we simply do not have the resources to create and maintain one. Websites require: - Time- Money - Technical and Artistic knowledge.
- These are listed in order of what is most precious to us โ€” especially volunteer time.
- We currently use Facebook as our main platform because it is free and allows us to quickly share walk details, photos, and community updates.
- If someone cannot access Facebook, our walk programme can also be found online through Mansfield CVS, at the link they kindly provide. https://www.mansfieldcvs.org/

# 13 ** why do you not walk at weekends?**
# 14 ** why do you not have evening walks?**
- We would like to offer weekend and evening walks, and it has been known to happen. However, due to other commitments, it can be difficult to find the time, and for safety reasons we prefer to have two walk leaders on every walk. There are also plenty of other groups walking at weekends, as many of us are already members of the Ramblers and other walking and hiking groups.

# # Please remember:
- We are a not-for-profit group
- We charge nothing to take part in our walks
- We receive no funding
- Everything we do is voluntary

Helping run the group is part of a positive community service that many of us enjoy and find rewarding.

๐ŸŒฟ Brilliant Brambles at Blidworth Wood๐ŸŒฟ

Well... perhaps Blistering Brambles would have been a more accurate title๐Ÿ˜„

A huge thank you to everyone who joined me today at this beautiful Forestry England woodland. ๐Ÿ’š More importantly, thank you all for being so patient, understanding and forgiving when the rapidly growing brambles and stinging nettles on some of the smaller trails decided they wanted to join us too๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ˜…

I must apologise for not realising just how much nature had reclaimed parts of the route since my last visit. Fortunately, we all made it through with plenty of smiles, a few careful detours, and (hopefully) no serious stings or scratches.

Our planned 4ยฝ-mile walk grew into 4ยพ miles, taking us 1 hour 54 minutes, but everyone looked remarkably fresh and well-hydrated at the finish. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ง

After crossing the road we entered Sansom Wood, which stretches south towards Burnt Stump and the country park. It's an area steeped in history for anyone who enjoys exploring. As much as I love leading our walks, I'm afraid I'm no historian or Forestry Ranger, so there are plenty of fascinating stories waiting to be discovered for yourselves. ๐ŸŒณ

๐Ÿ‘ Thank you once again to each and every one of you for making today's walk such an enjoyable one despite nature throwing us a few prickly surprises.
A grateful shoutout to Iain for the photos.
๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Tomorrow we head to a brand-new venue for the first of Stuart's new walks. It's around 5 miles, and Stuart is aiming to complete it in 2 hours BUT please allow a little longer because we can only walk as the slowest person. We hope many of you can come along and give him a great send-off on his latest adventure as a walk leader. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Tempting Treasure on a Tuesday with Sheila ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸฆŒโœˆ๏ธ

What a delightful two-hour stroll we enjoyed today. Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones you plan, and today's walk proved exactly that.

Our original route was blocked and impassable, so Sheila expertly adapted the walk, taking us along part of the Lady Chatterley's Trail through the beautiful Lady Spencer Wood. It turned out to be a wonderful change of plan.

There were so many highlights along the way. The woodland scenery was stunning, we were treated to sightings of several deer, and then came the unexpected star of the showโ€”a low-flying F-35 roaring overhead. I have to admit, the sound of its engines was even louder than one of my speeches... and that's saying something๐Ÿ˜‚

A huge thank you to Sheila for leading such an enjoyable walk and for taking today's photographs. Thanks also to Rob for bringing up the rear as our backmarker and his contribution of photos. And i'm not forgetting everyone who came along and made it another great Walk and Talk outing, thanks.

Our appreciation also goes to everyone at The Young Vanish for being such wonderful hosts and serving such fantastic food. I can thoroughly recommend the beefโ€”it was absolutely delicious๐Ÿ˜‹

๐Ÿšถ Tomorrow's Walk โ€“ Blidworth Woods

Tomorrow we'll be wandering through Blidworth Woods, parking in the Forestry England car park, approximately 500 metres from Papplewick Pumping Station.

๐Ÿ“We'll meet near the What3Words location below. If that's not convenient, simply look for the picnic tables beside the food van.

A few things to note:

โœ… Free parking.
๐Ÿšป There are no toilets at the start, lots of tree and quiet spaces.
๐ŸŒฒ The woods are looking wonderfully alive at this time of year.
๐Ÿ›๏ธ We won't be going into Papplewick Pumping Station during the walk, but afterwards you're very welcome to explore the grounds, which are free to enter.

Depending on the weather, the walk will be between 3ยฝ and 4ยฝ miles, taking around two hours.

Hope you can join us for another enjoyable morning in the woods ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ“ข I managed to get our A4 July poster and July flyers delivered to Pleasley today before the walk. ๐Ÿ˜Š

If anyone is out on the Wednesday or Thursday walks and will be passing Teversal or Brierley's Visitor Centre, and could pop the same posters and flyers in for us, it would save me making a separate trip. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Please collect them from me when you see me, as I'll be on both the Blidworth and Shirebrook walks. Many thanks! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“„๐Ÿ˜Š

๐ŸŒฟ Marvellous Mild Monday at the Dukeries๐ŸŒฟ

What a delightful way to spend a Monday morning with another sweet and succulent stroll around the beautiful Holbeck district. Setting off in a clockwise direction, we enjoyed peaceful woodland, open countryside, and great company throughout our journey.

Today's circuit covered just under 4 miles, taking us a relaxed 1 hour 50 minutes, proving once again that it's not about racing from A to B, but enjoying every step along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today and i really appreciated the company and chat, before, during and after the walk.

Special thanks also go to Linda for topping up our sweet reserves โ€“ your generosity certainly helped keep our energy levels topped up๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿ˜Š

After the walk, many of us resisted... well, some of us resisted... the temptation of the wonderful Dukeries Farm Shop, while others happily ventured into the cafรฉ for a well-earned drink, a bite to eat, and perhaps a little retail therapy too.

Those enjoying the cafรฉ and farm shop have to be impressed with the quality of the produce, it's worth every penny.

๐Ÿ“… We're back here again in two weeks' time (Thursday 16th) for a slightly longer 5ยฝ-mile adventure on a completely different circuit, so if you enjoyed today's walk, there's even more to look forward to.

๐Ÿšถ Tomorrow however, we head to Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery GLAPWELL, for the first of two walks from this venue. We've allowed a little extra time so we can enjoy the wonderful views across the valley into Derbyshire and see the many displays and features the local community has created to help beautify the village. On our second visit, we'll explore the opposite direction, giving us two very different walks from the same starting point.

Thanks once again to everyone for making today's walk such enjoyable company. See you on the next adventure๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฅพ

๐ŸŒž๐Ÿšถ Wandering Wisely from Warsop ๐Ÿšถ๐ŸŒž

Today's weather certainly looked and felt scorching, with the searing sunshine making it seem as though it would be an overwhelming morning. Thankfully, Mother Nature had other ideas and provided us with a welcome cooling breeze, adding the X-Factor to our adventure... followed closely by Y and Z.

Y was for the youthful energy everyone brought along today. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying every step of the walk.

Z was for the slightly zig-zagging path we all seemed to take at times, with a gentle stagger here and there as we negotiated the terrain๐Ÿคฃ

Although today's walk was a shorter four-mile outing, it certainly didn't feel like hard work. The biggest challenge came courtesy of a field of potatoes, with the plants brushing against our legs and, in places, reaching waist height๐Ÿฅ”

Around a third of our walk was spent out in the glorious sunshine, enjoying that refreshing breeze, while the remainder took us beneath the cool, shaded canopy of the woodland treesโ€”a perfect combination on such a warm day. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿƒ

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today. Your company, laughter and conversations make every walk special. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Warsop Ex Servicemen's Club for their warm hospitality before and after our walk. Your refreshments are always very much appreciated. โ˜•๐Ÿฐ

6 walkers joined Peter at the White Swan, Pleasley after a team meeting we decided to keep in the shade so we followed the Meden along to Pond 1 at Pleasley Mills then up onto the Archealogical Way. We headed out towards Woodhouse for 1/2 mile then turned around and followed the Archealogical Way back to Meden Square. Just under 3.5miles in 1 1/2hrs. Thanks for all who turned out, lots of talk and laughter ending in 6 of us in the Swan for liquid refreshments. Apologies from Peter for leaving the sweets in his car ๐Ÿคจ. There is a walk tomorrow from the Ex-Servicens club Carr Lane, Warsop...

2 of us (mad dogs and English men springs to mind!) joined Sheila for a sunny safari from the Gate Hotel. We encountered horses, a herd of cattle, fallen trees and open fields! The planned walk became slightly extended but didn't dampen our spirits. Thank you to Sheila for leading. Tomorrow's walk is from the White Swan Pleasley...

Hurry, Hurry, Hurry... I Like My Rice and Curry๐Ÿ›๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

Well, if I'm being completely honest, today's shortened walk may have had something to do with getting back to the food and drink at The Oak Tree๐Ÿ˜„ Did you really think I wanted to come out walking in an Amber Weather Warning just for the exercise?๐Ÿฅต

Thankfully, both Berry Hill Park and King George V Recreation Ground provided plenty of welcome shade beneath their beautiful canopy of trees. The excellent paths and gentle route made for a pleasant stroll despite the soaring temperatures.

Of course, priorities must be observed. If The Oak Tree is open, then it is our duty to ensure the food and refreshments meet the required standards! ๐Ÿบโ˜•๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

A huge thank you to everyone who joined today's walk. It was great to see so many of you taking sensible precautions, keeping hydrated, applying the sunscreen, and looking after yourselves in the heat. Your wellbeing always comes first and beside that you all look good.

One of today's surprises was the local squirrels, who seemed unusually relaxed in our company. Perhaps they were finding the heat as tiring as we were and couldn't be bothered to scamper away๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐ŸŒž

Despite the challenging weather, it was lovely to enjoy some fresh air, good company, plenty of conversation, and a welcome opportunity to stretch our legs before returning for some well-earned refreshments. Besides that we were in the oak tree for over an hour and thanks to Karen for the sweeties which have been shared with peter.

Tomorrow we wander from the Gate Hotel Langwith. Let's hope for slightly cooler temperatures, but whatever the weather, there will undoubtedly be plenty of smiles, laughter, and friendship along the way.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and see you tomorrow๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’™
