Guys, I want your advice. Our beautiful new store on Market Street is in a listed building with loads of heritage, and I love the quirks of such a historic building. But the floor in this part of the shop is messing with the perfectionist in me, especially when I’m taking pics for on here!

So what should I do? Leave it as it is, it’s unique and special. Or cover it with a rug!

To thank you in advance, here are a few more pics of the store looking colourful and bright, even if the weather’s doing the opposite!

We’re open all weekend and will keep being open 7 days a week, with a slightly earlier close Monday to Weds at 4pm.

Moving shop right before the summer holidays felt like a slightly mad idea at the time. Turns out it was the best call we’ve made.

We love the new space, and it’s safe to say you do too. Being in one of the busiest spots in Margate has been incredible, but the bit that’s got us a bit soft is watching regulars and locals pop in just to say hello and see how we’re settling in.

A special mention to everyone who’s told us how relieved you are not to be climbing that hill anymore. We’re glad we could bring your favourite shop down to you 🤣

To everyone who came through the door or ordered online this August, thank you. The numbers speak for themselves, but you’re the reason behind every single one of them.

Here’s to a busy, sun-soaked, thoroughly bonkers first month. Onwards.

Some new arrivals for the new season that seems to have been thrust upon us by the weather gods!

These gorgeous woven baskets have been on my wish list for ages and finally I have the space for them. This incredible window is one of my favourite features of the new space and I was exited to fill the windowsill with them.

Hopefully the sun is staying for a while as we are very happy to welcome A.KJÆRBEDE sunglasses to Harbour & Tide. These fashion led Scandinavian glasses come in a broad range of flattering styles and are flying out already.

And welcoming back old favourites from Sophie Home ~ colour•joy•purpose these cotton blankets are perfect for the cooler evenings on the bed, beach or sofa.

One month since we packed up Fort Hill and moved down into the centre of the old town, and what a whirlwind it’s been! Margate in the summer is fun at the best of times, turns out it’s even better when you’re right in the thick of it. From a business perspective, it’s been fascinating to see what actually works in the new spot. Here are a few reflections...

Resting Beach Face is still, hands down, the one people can’t resist. Tee, pencil, notepad, postcard, doesn’t matter, RBF is our best seller.

Our plastic-free toy edit has been such a hit with kids and grown-ups alike. It’s proof that thoughtful design beats plastic every time.

Cards are flying off the rack faster than I can restock them, I’ve reordered three times already this month. You lot are keeping us on our toes!

It’s been fascinating watching things that barely moved on Fort Hill suddenly become firm favourites down here. New spot, new customers, new taste, I guess that’s retail for you.

I was worried about not having a huge window to catch people’s eye. Turns out a smaller shopfront and a warm welcome does just as much of the work.

And then there’s the view. Watching the old town shift and change around us every single day has honestly been one of my favourite parts of this move.

Thank you to everyone who’s popped in, said hello, or found us for the first time. We can’t wait to see what the next few months bring.

I was delighted to be asked by insideKENT for my favourite places across the county and my top spots in my hometown of Ramsgate. It was extremely hard to narrow my list down to these few but I tried to represent all the things I like to do: shopping, sea swimming, lounging, food, coffee and scenery!

If you haven’t visited this area of Kent I can highly recommend if for a day, a short break or a longer stay as there is just so much to see, do and of course eat!

I have been pretty quiet on here due to the fact that I took a well earned break with my family, escaping the heatwave in Scotland. My amazing team have been holding the fort in Margate and it’s been a buzzing few weeks in our new Market Street store.

I can’t lie, its been a bit weird to be away just after moving and I have definitely had fomo, especially this weekend for Pride! So it was great to be back in store today and have a play around with the pegboard and displays.

It’s definitely a work in progress in the new store and I can’t wait to see how it evolves with the seasons. It was pretty cool and wet in Scotland which gave me lots of ideas for autumn buying!

For now it’s still very much summer here in Margate and at Harbour & Tide. We are open every day throughout the summer and 24/7 online for your beach essentials, Margate mementos and of course Resting Beach Face.

Our store might have a new home but our bestsellers remain the same. Our Resting Beach Face sweatshirts and tees have been flying out the door, forcing me to order more as quickly as possible!

Hand screen printed in soft organic cotton, comfortable, flattering and seaside tongue in cheek - what’s not to love?!

This is prime RBF season too: the sun is shining, the sea is inviting and Margate’s summer is in full swing.

Nestled in one half of the old Ramsay & Williams site, Katy has already noted more people discovering her beach lifestyle store.
