Thursday evening was Quilters at Big Barn, thank you to the two who attended and thanks for the apols from others.....life and heat!

Yesterday we covered 'quilt and go' .....and these were beautifully sewn by our two attendees augmented with huge cups of tea, raspberries and som clotted cream short bread from Cornwall....what's not to like?

Now don't forget, the Quilters Group runs the 2nd and 4th Thursday on the month, so the next one is July 23rd 5 30-8pm at Big Barn....if you need transport, let me know! 🌞

Evening all! Another warm one! Do you know what, I think we could get used to it, you know, like when you go abroad, you acclimatise! 🌞

So happy to be in the shop today, and thank you to everyone who stopped by, not for anything in particular, just to say hello! It means a lot!

So the pictures.....I m loving this toddlers dress made for a customer using some beautiful African fabric, its so dinky!

Then we have a fusion of knitted squares and fabric to create a memory quilt! This is the thing to do when you find a load of knitted squares which hold memories of the person who knitted them....🤍

And finally, we ve been talking, haven't we, about the buzz about using paracetamol tablets to clean your iron....well, I tested it this evening, et voila! It works!

Now don't forget, this Thursday 5.30-8 is our regular quilting group at Big Barn....we had a great time last week, so feel free to come along and give it a go.....if transport is a problem, call or message me, I can arrange a pick up!

Evening! I ve got a piece of carpet that needs fitting at Big Barn..... It doesn't feel like it's going to be a big job, but then I m not a carpet fitter......any recommendations?

Oiy, oiy!

How is everyone doing today.....just a reminder of our first Quilting Group meet this evening 5.30-8ish at Big Barn Tong Business Village TF11 8PT .....

This week I ve had some amazing projects and lovely customers sending me pictures of some of those projects at their final destinations!

And, a couple more workshops which have fixed dates....

The last picture is of a project bag make, scheduled for Saturday 18th July 1.30-4. Its £35 and includes all materials!

And the Rag Quilt workshop is on Saturday 25th July 10-2ish. Its £40 all found, including a light lunch.

Bookings for these groups are essential, so drop me a dm or pop in the shop!

My sewing machine is on fire today! 🔥

And so was my laptop yesterday, as I pulled the Workshop Timetable out of the bag! It's only three pages long!!

I m just hot to trot as we reach the half year! July already....well tomorrow!

I ve just finished the hem on this rather beautiful skirt....I m putting it here because it is the longest continuous hem I have EVER done at an eye watering 12 metres! Definitely note worthy and Mags, your skirt is ready for collection! 😊

Look at this temperature! That's the co-op car park for you, and cheers! A long cold no alcohol cider .....a perfect end to a hot day.....

Thanks to the lovely volunteer who held the shop whilst I was at Big Barn......and checked in the new stock!

Watch this space for the workshops....there s a skeleton plan, now to put the meat on the bones!

🎵It's feeling hot, hot, hot! 🎵

Now, it's not like you don't already know, but we re having a record breaking heatwave over the next few days, which could potentially be life threatening so here's my advice .....

🌞 Stay in if you can, and reduce heat ingress by closing curtains and blinds and keeping some windows closed...

🌞 Make sure you drink plenty to keep hydrated

🌞 limit alcohol intake...heat and alcohol don't go well together

🌞 Keep skin covered if out, either with cloth or cream

🌞 Wear a hat, or use an umbrella if going out

🌞 look out for your family, neighbours and friends particularly if they re older or unwell

And for our furry friends......

🐾 Definitely no walkies for the next couple of days!

🐾 MOST DEFINITELY don't take them out and leave in the car!

🐾 add ice cubes to water bowls

Now, repairs and alterations can all wait! There is no urgency to bring in or collect....staying safe is more important and let's face it, these temperatures are new to us!

The shop will be open, we ve plenty of bottle water if you re passing or your delivering.....let's make sure we all get to the other side of this with minimal discomfort......

Who's ready for the heatwave? Remember, to keep the fluids up, reduce the alcohol, skin covered, either with cream or fabric and pace yourself! Nothing worse than dehydration, sun stroke or skin burn....it just ruins your day!

Thanks to all who turned up to the Sewcial....its definitely a work in progress, building wise, but the creativity there in is a-mazing!

And thanks for the space given last week, with the shop being closed, I really needed to be at the top of my game with all those who have trusted me with their special occasions....some really beautiful outfits went out... back to normal this week!

I have one more 'made from scratch' prom dress going out tmrw, along side 2 bridesmaids
and the dresses for the carnival this weekend! 😍

And just a reminder, my diary is open from July for special occasions and wedding appointments, both women and men... just remember it's only me, so it closes quite quickly when I reach capacity......

At some point this week, I ll be putting out the workshop schedule.....very excited for this, but I want to tell you that from the 2nd of July I ll be running a quilting specific group every Thursday from 5.30pm - 8pm at Big Barn.....let me know if you re interested and watch this space for more I fo on the projects we ll be undertaking.....
