Hapazome and petal rubbing results with home educated children.

Thanks to my Woad Farm colleagues and for facilitating.

We used sage, oxeye daisies, hollyhocks, dyers chamomile, marigolds, calendula and top results from rose petals.

I love how the flower prints leave soft, unpredictable marks on the fabric, then the stitching brings definition and detail back in. A balance between chance and slow making.

Japanese sashiko thread is a multi strand embroidery thread, and it can be costly to source variegated threads for fun visible mending projects.

We are looking forward to trying our homemade wallflower sashiko threads out once cured, rinsed and dried.

The wallflowers are coming to an end after their 18 month journey from seed to flower.

We love the range of yellows, greens and purples they create in impressionist patterns.
