🎗️ As it’s the start of childhood cancer awareness month, We will start with our reason. Paul ♥️ 🎗️
Paul-Joseph Smith was born a healthy baby on the 25th June 2022. He had a milk intolerance but once that was sorted, he was so happy, always smiling. Just perfect.
Paul developed puffy eyes that turned into bruise looking eyes. A bit yellow, like an old bruise. A lot of medical advice was sort that week. A lot of accusations thrown around too BUT never the word “neuroblastoma”.
We got the devastating news that Paul-Joseph had stage four MYCN amplified high risk neuroblastoma on the 27th November 2023. Already it had spread throughout his body, although weeks before he was his complete happy, cheeky self.
His eyes changed dramatically and quickly. Pictures from this time are still heartbreaking for us to see. (This is the reality though)
Paul-Joseph underwent months of gruelling treatment and started induction chemotherapy on the 1st December 2023. His treatments included chemotherapy, radiotherapy and he also had the opportunity to be a part of a SIOPEN High Risk Neuroblastoma trial which gave us so much hope.
Sadly, after a huge fight our precious Paul lost his battle to neuroblastoma on the 19th July 2024 just weeks after his second birthday. He has left such a massive hole in all of our hearts.
Spreading awareness means so much to us. Neuroblastoma is a word we’d never heard but because of it, our lives will NEVER be the same.
